Wrexham fans may be waiting for players to come into the team this month, but the Red Dragons have just sent another player packing, at least temporarily.

It has been a frustrating month in the transfer market for Wrexham so far, with Phil Parkinson unable to add to his squad despite links to various strikers.

When it comes to confirmed Wrexham transfers, all we have to discuss are the players leaving the club, with Billy Waters exiting permanently, and Jake Bickerstaff extending his loan at Altrincham.

Well, we can now add another player to that departures list, but it’s a move that should be relatively exciting for Wrexham fans.

Callum Edwards joins Bala Town FC on loan

Wrexham academy starlet, Callum Edwards, is leaving the club until the end of the season, but he’s not moving far away, as he’s joining Cymru Premier side, Bala Town FC.

The Welsh outfit confirmed the move on their Twitter/X account, confirming the youngster will wear the 22 shirt for them for the remainder of the campaign.

Described by Wrexham themselves as “a pacey winger” with “terrific work rate”, Edwards came through the club’s youth system before being promoted to the first-team this season.

He was on the bench for the EFL Trophy clash with Port Vale earlier in the season, but didn’t make it onto the pitch and is still awaiting his Red Dragons debut.

Game time is crucial at this stage for Callum Edwards

It may not seem like that much of a big deal, but Callum Edwards getting this loan move now is a really smart decision from the club, as he is in desperate need of proper senior minutes, and he was not going to get that at the Racecourse Ground.

He’s a genuine talent who could end up breaking through in the Wrexham first-team, but with so much at stake this season, Edwards was only going to stagnate while waiting for an opportunity.

Hopefully, he can make a real impact at Bala Town and prove that he’s more than capable of handling himself in the Cymru.

If Wrexham do get promoted this season, Edwards will no doubt need another loan spell next season, but at a much stronger level. If the Red Dragons remain in League One, however, there’s every chance Edwards could be given a real opportunity in Parkinson’s team.
