Wrexham are showing a keen interest in signing Barry Bannan as Sheffield Wednesday’s nightmare only worsens.
Wrexham fans have seen Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds lead the way for all future foreign owners.
The Hollywood duo have turned Wrexham into a force on and off the pitch, all while placing the Wrexham community at the heart of their plans.
Not every club is quite that lucky, though, and Wrexham fans will spare a thought for Sheffield Wednesday supporters.
The Owls are enduring a nightmare under Dejphon Chansiri, with some players still awaiting payment of wages.
The EFL have now ruled that Wednesday will be placed under transfer restrictions until January 2027, with fans desperate for Chansiri to sell the club and end the misery.

Barry Bannan cheered Wrexham on last year
Wrexham may now look to swoop in for a player who has been considered a Wednesday favourite in recent years.
Reports suggest Wrexham are interested in signing Barry Bannan, whose contract with Wednesday expires this summer.
The Owls have offered Bannan a new contract, but few would blame the Scot for preferring a move to Wrexham over staying at Hillsborough.
Bannan would bring some real class to Wrexham’s midfield, and he was actually mixing it with the Wrexham fans last year.
As captured by the Sheffield Star’s Alex Miller, Bannan posted a photo from the away end at Doncaster Rovers as Wrexham visited in a League Two clash.
Bannan noted that he was there to cheer on striker Steven Fletcher as Wrexham pushed for promotion from League Two.
To say Bannan was a surprise face in the away end would be an understatement, but he joined the travelling fans to cheer on Phil Parkinson’s side.
The Scot was left disappointed as Wrexham suffered a 1-0 defeat, and Fletcher only came off the bench to no avail.
Fast forward just over a year, and Bannan could find himself pulling on the famous red shirt himself, with Parkinson keen to lure him to North Wales.
Steven Fletcher would surely support Barry Bannan’s potential Wrexham move
In an ideal world, Bannan would be joining Fletcher at the STōK Cae Ras.
The pair played together for Scotland and Sheffield Wednesday, making 131 appearances together over the years.
Sadly, that won’t be happening as Fletcher is leaving Wrexham this summer with his contract coming to an end.
Fletcher admitted that the decision to leave is not his, and it’s Wrexham who have chosen not to extend his deal.
There are no hard feelings, though, with Fletcher loving his two-year stay in North Wales.
If Bannan asked Fletcher for his honest thoughts on Wrexham, he would surely urge the midfielder to make the move.
Joining Wrexham brought newfound energy to Fletcher’s career into his 30s, and Bannan finds himself in a similar spot.
After 10 years and more than 400 appearances for Wednesday, Bannan may want something new, and this exciting Wrexham project can certainly provide that dynamic.
