Wrexham can start dreaming of Championship football next season and with that new and exciting recruitment could begin at the club.
Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have not been afraid to splash the cash since their takeover of the club back in 2021 and would have to invest heavily in the Wrexham squad should they secure promotion.
Wrexham are interested in Tom Lawrence as their plans for the summer begin to take shape with eyes on strengthening Phil Parkinson’s squad for the next level up in the English football pyramid.
Reynolds and McElhenney are looking for new investment to help with the recruitment and running of the club in the Championship and a former player has suggested a ‘Hollywood’ striker that the club could try and sign.

Wrexham tipped to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic by former player
As per the Mirror, former Wrexham striker Matt Jansen has tipped the club to sign football icon Zlatan Ibrahimovic should the club achieve promotion from League One.
Ibrahimovic has been retired since July 2023 but Jansen believes the lure of a ‘Hollywood’ project such as Wrexham could tempt the Swede back into the game.
Jansen stated: “It would probably suit Zlatan Ibrahimovic, although he retired, but money talks and they’ve certainly got it. It would be Hollywood and he’d enjoy it, wouldn’t he?”
Jansen once turned down Alex Ferguson at Manchester United before a spell at the Racecourse Ground later in his career and also mentioned Nottingham Forest striker Chris Wood as a potential target.
He explained: “It would certainly be that type, or a big target man like Chris Wood maybe, although he’s not going to leave Nottingham Forest. It would all depend on whether they could get the signings that they would need to challenge and whether those players would suit.”
Ibrahimovic’s career leaves him as a football icon
Should the lure of North Wales be too good for Ibrahimovic to turn down, the Red Dragons would be attracting a player that has excelled in world football.
The Swede has won titles in Spain and Italy and played for some of the greatest clubs in the world including Barcelona, both Milan clubs and Manchester United.
| Zlatan Ibrahimovic career statistics | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Zlatan Ibrahimovic | 827 | 496 | 203 |
In a career spanning more than two decades, Ibrahimovic has played with some of the greats of the game and become a great of the game himself, winning the FIFA Club World Cup with Barcelona in 2010.
Whilst a deal for the legend would be extremely unlikely if not impossible for the Red Dragons to pull off, fans will be excited at the prospect of attracting promising talent to the club if they can gain promotion.
