Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have the option to sell one player for over £1m if they wish, according to one former Wrexham man.
Since the North American pair took over at the Racecourse Ground, the focus has obviously been on improving the squad.
That has meant a number of major arrivals for record fees, with Sam Smith now Wrexham’s record transfer.
The striker joined from Reading in January in a deal thought to have set Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney back seven figures.
This completely smashed the previous transfer record, which was the £590,000 paid to West Bromwich Albion for Modou Faal.
However, ahead of a potential promotion to the Championship and an already inflated squad, Reynolds and McElhenney should start looking at which Wrexham players they could sell.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney told Wrexham star is worth over £1m
The likes of Steven Fletcher and Mark Howard are currently due to leave the club on free transfers when their contracts expire in the coming months.
However, there are still plenty of talented players on Wrexham’s books who could fetch big transfer fees.
Ryan Barnett was wanted by Championship clubs earlier in the season before he signed a new contract.
Now, former Wrexham player Bryan Hughes has claimed that centre-back Max Cleworth would net the Red Dragons over £1m if he’s sold, breaking his record as their most expensive sale, as per Leader Live.
He said: “Max is a talented boy. I seen that when he was 16. I gave him his debut against Ayr and to see him where he is now is brilliant.
“I said to the owners at the time when I left my job to make sure they secured the likes of Max and Jake Bickerstaff because they are going to be the future of the club.
“At that time we didn’t know anything about Rob and Ryan’s investment, the business-model was about youth and the funds from them to keep the club going and help get us through the leagues.
“Wrexham don’t need to sell now but I think Max could definitely be the one that breaks my record which would be nice for me because I gave him his debut.
“He’s got the potential to do it and the more games he plays and experience he gets, especially this year in League One, will only help him.”

Wrexham’s most expensive sales
Hughes left Wrexham as a player in 1997, joining their current League One promotion rivals, Birmingham City, in a £1m deal.
He became the club’s most expensive sale as a result, a record that has stood for some time.
| Player | Transfer fee | Team sold to |
| Bryan Hughes | £1m | Birmingham City |
| Neil Roberts | £500,000 | Wigan Athletic |
| Barry Hunter | £415,000 | Reading |
| David Brammer | £404,000 | Port Vale |
| Craig Morgan | £312,000 | MK Dons |
However, given how inflated transfer fees are in the modern era, should the likes of Cleworth end up being sold, it does seem obvious that Hughes’ transfer record will be smashed pretty easily.
