What LASK Linz thought of Maksym Talovierov

As per the Plymouth Herald, Talovierov was allowed to leave Austrian club LASK Linz in order to join Plymouth Argyle in the January transfer window.

Plymouth have since been relegated to League One but the 24-year-old defender impressed during his time in the Championship.

According to the report, LASK were also big admirers of Talovierov, their head coach Markus Schopp stated: “We didn’t want to deny Maksym Talovierov the chance to prove himself in England. He has always put himself at the service of the team and we wish him all the best in his new role.

“We see ourselves as very well positioned in the centre-back position, especially as our young players have shown strong performances in games and training.”

Christian Gratzei, LASK’s head of football operations, also explained: “Maksym Talovierov has matured at LASK to become a Ukrainian national player and European Championship participant. The offer from England speaks for the development he has made with us.”

Maksym Talovierov’s Plymouth record

Having joined for £1.7m, Talovierov has already shown that he has the capabilities to be an excellent defender in the second tier.

He famously scored for Plymouth in a 3-1 FA Cup defeat to Manchester City having also helped the club to secure a giant-killing over Liverpool in the fourth round.

His ability in the air and aggressive nature in the tackle would have caught the eye of Parkinson and the Ukrainian star also played in the UEFA Conference League this season for previous club LASK.

It would be a statement of intent from Wrexham to go and purchase an international defender and the sort of signing the Red Dragons are going to need more of this window.
