Wrexham want to sign Josh Windass, and the ex-Sheffield Wednesday man will make a decision soon.
The Red Dragons have so far completed three signings during the 2025 summer transfer window.
Liberato Cacace joined Wrexham on Friday, signing in a £4m move to become the club’s new record transfer.
But more incomings are expected at the Racecourse Ground before the deadline on September 1.
The Welsh club have been heavily linked with several former Sheffield Wednesday players this summer.
Wrexham are interested in Josh Windass, who scored 13 goals in the Championship last season, and he’s now become a free agent.

When Wrexham target Josh Windass will make future decision
It was confirmed by Sheffield Wednesday this week that Windass has terminated his contract and departed Hillsborough Stadium.
This means Wrexham can now sign the player on a free transfer, though there is competition for his signature.
And an update on when the 31-year-old is going to make a decision on his future has now been shared by Tom Bogert.
He reported that Wrexham, Norwich City, Leicester City, Genoa and Derby County are all interested.
Bogert went on to state that Windass is ‘expected to make a decision next week.’

Wrexham want Josh Windass’ former Sheffield Wednesday teammate
As mentioned, Windass is not the only former Sheffield Wednesday player the Dragons are looking at.
Michael Smith is wanted by Wrexham – he was also released by the club on the same day as the midfielder.
Smith has been a target of Parkinson’s during the previous two transfer windows.
The striker, who scored eight and assisted four in the Championship during 2024/25, has had talks with Middlesbrough.
