Wrexham have secured another major signing after confirming the arrival of Manchester City defender Callum Doyle on Thursday evening.

The spending continues as Wrexham look to stay upwardly mobile under Rob Mac and Ryan Reynolds.

Nathan Broadhead shattered Wrexham’s transfer record last week, completing a £7.5million move which could be worth £10million one day.

Another signing has now arrived, with Wrexham confirming Callum Doyle’s arrival from Manchester City.

The defender has penned a four-year deal at the STōK Cae Ras and becomes another seven-figure addition.

Doyle has joined in a deal worth up to £8million, with £3million of the deal attributed as add-ons.

Wrexham beat Rangers to Callum Doyle deal

This is a major coup for Doyle, with the defender both a huge talent for the future as well as being Championship-proven.

Doyle has enjoyed three loan spells in the Championship with Coventry City, Leicester City and Norwich City.

Now able to call Wrexham home, Doyle will look to settle down and fulfil his potential at the STōK Cae Ras.

The Athletic’s Jordan Campbell now reports that Wrexham managed to fend off both Rangers and Sheffield United in the race for Doyle.

Left-footed defenders are in demand in the modern game, and it’s no surprise to hear of interest from many other clubs.

Rangers are vying for a place in the Champions League league phase but have still failed to convince Doyle into a move to Ibrox.

Rangers also wanted Conor Coady this summer, but backed away from a deal over the price tag required by Leicester City.

Wrexham have managed to sign both players and will now reunite Coady and Doyle after they played together at Leicester City.

Wrexham could beat Rangers to another signing

Parkinson will be delighted to have both Coady and Doyle on board, and he may yet have one more move up his sleeve to frustrate Rangers.

Reports suggest that Wrexham are chasing Andy Irving of West Ham United – and have overtaken Rangers in the race for his signature.

The Scottish midfielder has struggled for regular Premier League action with the Hammers, but has previously proven himself as a goalscoring midfielder.

A return to Scotland may still appeal to Irving, but Wrexham appear to have a great chance of pipping the Gers to another signing.

That is impressive stuff for Wrexham, with players now keen to join the journey at the STōK Cae Ras – even if a club as enormous as Rangers come knocking.
