Wrexham appear to be closing in on two attacking signings, but Phil Parkinson is also pushing to land an experienced defender.

Lewis O’Brien’s move to Wrexham last Thursday appeared to bring an end to Phil Parkinson’s transfer spree.

The former Nottingham Forest midfielder was the fourth signing in the space of a week, completing a permanent move to the STōK Cae Ras.

Liberato Cacace, George Thomason and Josh Windass had already joined Wrexham, with O’Brien seemingly capping off a brilliant transfer flurry.

Wrexham are now pushing for more additions with Parkinson seemingly ready to splash even more cash.

Nathan Broadhead is nearing a £7.5million move to Wrexham, while Parkinson is closing in on signing Kieffer Moore from Sheffield United.

Conor Coady closing in on Wrexham move

Broadhead and Moore will be two major additions to Wrexham’s attack, following on from Windass and Ryan Hardie.

It isn’t all about the attack, though, and Wrexham are now pushing to sign another defender.

Reports earlier this week suggested that Wrexham are interested in signing Leicester City defender Conor Coady.

The 32-year-old could be on the move this summer, and Wrexham appear to have a strong chance of a deal.

Sky Sports report that Wrexham are now close to an agreement to sign Coady in a £2million swoop.

It’s suggested that Wrexham’s negotiations have ‘accelerated’ on Thursday and talks are heading towards a deal.

All parties are keen to finalise the deal, with Coady having just one year left on his contract at the King Power Stadium.

Coady started 19 Premier League games last season and came off the bench in another three.

The former Liverpool talent now looks to be closing in on a move to Wrexham, and would slot right into the heart of Parkinson’s back three.

Coady has previously played in that role to a high level with Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Parkinson will look to call on his experience in the Championship.

Rangers backed away from Conor Coady

Wrexham are swooping in just as rumours surrounding a potential move to Rangers have cooled.

Coady has been linked with a Glasgow switch for most of the summer, with sporting director Kevin Thelwell a big fan, having worked with the defender at Wolves and Everton.

However, TalkSPORT claim that while Coady was close to a move to Ibrox, Rangers ‘baulked’ at the £2million asking price.

Rangers are pushing for Champions League qualification, and are another step closer to the league phase after seeing off Panathinaikos on Wednesday.

Rangers seemingly don’t believe that £2million is good value for money on Coady, but Wrexham disagree and are ready to pounce.
