Wrexham could now seal a real coup on deadline day by signing Fleetwood Town striker Jack Marriott.
Wrexham’s transfer window has been a slow burner so far but a few arrivals are expected through the door today.
Yesterday it was revealed that a fee had been agreed for Salford City wing-back Luke Bolton while Phil Parkinson is also plotting an ambitious move for midfielder Jamie Lindsay from Championship side Rotherham.
Meanwhile, the club were intent on bringing in a strike partner for Paul Mullin and although they’ve failed in that mission so far, landing Jack Marriott from Fleetwood Town would be fix that issue.

Wrexham want Fleetwood Town’s Jack Marriott
After a relatively slow month, Wrexham are gearing up for a climatic and chaotic deadline day as they scamper to get players through the door.
One of those is Marriott, who is reportedly of interest to League One promotion chasers Oxford United, while the Red Dragons are said to be ‘preparing a move’ for the 29-year-old.
During this window, several strikers have been linked with a switch to the club, but their attempts to prise Marriott from a side in the division above is by far their most ambitious transfer target.
Of course, with Oxford keen on securing a deal, it looks difficult to get a last-minute deal done.
However, if they do manage it, Wrexham would be pulling off an incredible feat.
Jack Marriott would be a real coup
It doesn’t feel that long ago since Marriott stunned Elland Road into silence after scoring a double against Leeds United to book Derby’s place in the Championship play-off final at Wembley.
Although they went on to lose the resulting final, Marriott was labelled as a “maverick” by pundit Stan Collymore after displaying his clinical finishing at Elland Road.
The former Rams striker has since spent time at Sheffield Wednesday, returned to Peterborough United and now Fleetwood.
During Peterborough’s Championship campaign in 2021/22, Marriott netted nine goals in the second tier and while the Posh were relegated, he proved himself as a reliable source of goals.
The fact that Wrexham are chasing a player of this calibre shows their intent as promotion candidates and given he’s plundered five goals this term for the struggling Cod Army, he could become a revelation at the Racehorse Ground.
Partnering alongside goal machine Mullin, the pair could form the most deadly partnership in the division.
Former striker Carlton Palmer, who gave his thoughts on this potential transfer to Football League World, tends to agree.
He said: “They’re looking to make a real statement of intent with the owners making funds available to sign a new striker and the name that has been mentioned is Jack Marriott of Fleetwood, who has scored five goals in League One in 24 appearances.
“This could prove to be a valuable signing for Wrexham.”
In the hunt for promotion, the finer details can make the difference and if they can somehow sign a player who has scored 110 goals across his career, promotion looks extremely likely.
