Wrexham are said to be one of many sides interested in a surprise move for Bristol Rovers and League One star, Aaron Collins this month.

It has been made no secret that Wrexham are looking to make some additions in the January transfer window.

This month has seen Phil Parkinson speak out on the difficulties that his side are having when bringing in new signings. There has still been links to various different signings with the majority of them being in forward areas.

Rumours suggest that the Reds could sign surprise targets like Macaulay Langstaff or an unknown quantity like Ronan Hale. There have also been more concrete links as a bid for Wigan striker, Stephen Humphrys has been lodged.

With all that being said, it is clear that there is a desire from the hierarchy to bring in an attacking option this month. Now they have been linked to a shock star from League One.

Wrexham in for Aaron Collins

Aaron Collins is a forward who has been described in the past year by his manager as ‘a real talisman for the group‘. This just goes to show how important he is for Bristol Rovers and their stay in League One.

This week has seen a surprise rumour linking him to the Reds. This has come due to him being out of contract this summer. In a report by Bristol Live, they have suggested that a move could be made possible.

On that, they said: “Collins, whose current deal expires next summer, has been subject to interest from a number of EFL clubs. Charlton Athletic and League Two promotion chasers Wrexham made enquiries earlier this month, while Bolton Wanderers are now also in the race to sign the 26-year-old.”

With these rumours coming up, Collins missed the Gas’ most recent fixture and win against Oxford United this weekend.

On his absence, Matt Taylor said: “There’s always a potential if the right offer comes in, not just in terms of transfer fees but loans as well for anyone who’s not getting the game time they want or feel they deserve.

“We have to be open in terms of that. But the squad is quite thin all of a sudden which is strange to say because I came into the club and it was a big and deep squad. We just wanted a valuable contribution on the pitch.”

With him missing and his contract running out, a move away from the Memorial Stadium may be on the cards. However, with interest in higher leagues coming in for the Welshman, he may favour a move elsewhere.
