This week has seen rumours suggesting that Macaulay Langstaff could make a shock move to Wrexham. Here is why we believe this could be an excellent move.

This has been a very quiet window for Wrexham so far this month for Wrexham as they are set to make any new signings.

The closest that the Reds have come to making a signing is the permanent move for Luke McNicholas in the past week.

There has also been very few outgoings so far which has seen just Billy Waters making a loan move away to Doncaster.

This isn’t to say that there hasn’t been plenty of rumours that are linking the Reds to making new signings. There have been concrete links to signing Stephen Humphrys while the discussion regarding Ronan Hale has quietened.

There is one rumour linking Macaulay Langstaff that has left fans excited as to what their future striker partnership could look like.

How Mullin and Langstaff could be devastating

Given that Wrexham are clearly after a striker or attacker in the January transfer window, signing Langstaff makes sense.

With the Reds sitting in second place and Notts County occupying second, he may be tempted. This may have been made more so as Luke Williams departed for Swansea City.

Prior to him leaving, he had been full of praise for Langstaff. Speaking with Keep Up, he couldn’t have been happier.

He said: “He is very special, and we must enjoy the time that we get to see him on the pitch and hopefully it is for a long time to come. You never know, but let’s savour having Macca on the pitch and enjoy what he brings to us.”

Hearing this from his former manager just goes to show how good he must have been. According to FotMob, this season alone he has 20 goals and five assists in just 27 matches.

Add to this his 42 goals in his first season for Notts last season, he has lots of goalscoring pedigree. This makes him one of the best in his position in the EFL right now.

Imagine him alongside Paul Mullin who is superb in his own right. In 19 games this season, the Welshman has 13 goals and assists despite a bad injury in preseason.

Given the poacher nature of Langstaff combined with all action Mullin, they would cause problems for any defences.

This move should be treated with a matter of urgency as the prospect alone is frightening. Could be the difference between a League Two title and potentially being in the playoffs.
