Wrexham are looking to add attacking firepower during this January transfer window and another new name has emerged from the rumour mill.

Phil Parkinson’s full focus will be on Saturday’s clash with Peterborough United as Wrexham welcome the Posh to the STōK Cae Ras.

Wrexham lost 2-1 at Barnsley on New Year’s Day and will be looking for a big response back at home.

Darren Ferguson is expecting a real fight against Wrexham and fans will be looking for yet another home win.

Fans are also paying close attention to the transfer window though with Wrexham now able to bring in some new signings.

Wrexham want a new striker this month with Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds looking to spend, and we are seeing a number of Championship forwards linked with a move.

Wrexham want Luton Town attacker

Leeds United’s Patrick Bamford was the first major name linked to Wrexham but his wages may be a little out of reach.

Bristol City misfit Harry Cornick is on Wrexham’s radar too whilst Plymouth Argyle attacker Ryan Hardie has been linked to Wrexham too.

A new name is now emerging with reporter Pete O’Rourke claiming that Wrexham are now keen on signing Luton Town’s Cauley Woodrow.

Woodrow has started just one Championship game for Luton this season whilst making 11 substitute appearances.

The 30-year-old has played just 243 minutes of league action this season and may fancy leaving Kenilworth Road for chances elsewhere.

Wrexham have been seeking an experienced Championship goalscorer and Woodrow may well fit the bill for Parkinson this month.

Who is Wrexham target Cauley Woodrow?

Woodrow hails from Hemel Hempstead and started his career started in the youth ranks of Luton Town after training with Tottenham Hotspur.

The striker was plucked away from Luton at the age of just 16 though as Fulham pounced to add him into their youth ranks.

Woodrow only ever played 66 times for Fulham though, scoring 12 goals whilst spending time out on loan at Southend United, Burton Albion, Bristol City and Barnsley.

The latter ended up becoming Woodrow’s permanent home in 2019, and his time at Oakwell was a huge success.

Woodrow scored 53 times in 157 games for Barnsley, including 16 goals in 31 games at League One level.

Woodrow’s impressive record for the Tykes earned him a return to Luton in 2022, helping the club reach the Premier League.

The goals haven’t really flowed for the 30-year-old though, scoring just six times in 72 games for the Hatters.

Luton boss Rob Edwards has called Woodrow ‘really intelligent’ whilst speaking to BBC Sport and Wrexham may view him as the kind of player who can bring guile and goals in League One.
