Wrexham fans may have expected more new faces to have joined the club’s pre-season tour to Australia.
Wrexham’s owners vowed to be ‘aggressive’ in the market this summer and so far Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have acquired two new signings in Ryan Hardie and Danny Ward.
Phil Parkinson will be pleased with the business so far but will also be keen to have the opportunity to work with new additions during the spell in Australia.
Wrexham are interested in Sontje Hansen and are yet to sign a player from overseas under the current ownership. A second player from abroad has now been linked and this time from Serie A.

Wrexham interested in Empoli defender Liberato Cacace
The Red Dragons are keen to strengthen in a number of areas this summer and one of Parkinson’s priorities has been in defence.
Owen Beck has been linked with Wrexham but the club face stiff competition from Rangers and other Championship rivals for the signature of the Liverpool youngster on loan.
According to Italian outlet Calcio News 24, Parkinson is turning his attentions to Empoli defender Liberato Cacace.

Cacace is valued at around £3.5m by the Serie A side and is already a New Zealand international with 16 caps under his belt.
Empoli are open to selling the 24-year-old but would like a permanent sale and want any deal to be done quickly so they can prepare for the new season.
Wrexham are yet to sign a player from abroad under Reynolds and McElhenney but that could soon change if moves for Cacace and Hansen are pursued.
Liberato Cacace transfer to Empoli labelled ‘historic’ for New Zealand football
As per the New Zealand Herald, Cacace’s transfer to Empoli in 2022 from Belgian side Sint-Truiden was labelled ‘historic’ for his country.
It is easy to see why Parkinson is chasing the defender with Cacace’s ability to play left back, left centre and left midfield.
| Empoli record last season | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Cacace | 39 | 2 | 5 |
Wrexham will need depth to their squad this season and Cacace would provide competition and support to the likes of Lewis Brunt and James McClean should a deal be completed.
At just 24, Cacace still has his best years in front of him and with experience in Italy’s top flight, it could be a real coup for the Red Dragons.
