Wrexham are working hard on securing additions to their squad despite touching down in Australia.

The club are working hard behind the scenes to continue to improve Phil Parkinson’s squad having already captured Ryan Hardie and Danny Ward this window.

Wrexham have agreed a fee for Lewis O’Brien but are now locked in talks with the player himself over his wage demands to join the Racecourse Ground.

Birmingham have frustrated Wrexham on a number of targets already this summer, including midfielder Tommy Doyle. However, their capture of Demarai Gray could finally open up an opportunity for their Championship rivals.

Wrexham interested in Sontje Hansen

According to Dutch outlet Voetbal International as per Ekstra Bladet, Wrexham are interested in signing Sontje Hansen from NEC Nijmegen in the Eredivisie.

Hansen has attracted interest from Birmingham in the past but it now appears that the Red Dragons have got the 23-year-old winger in their sights.

Championship rivals Middlesbrough are also interested in Hansen, alongside Danish outfit FC Copenhagen after the former Ajax youngster impressed last season.

Hansen is valued at around £3.5m by Transfermarkt and is under contract with his current club until June 2027.

With Wrexham keen to add to their squad, Hansen could provide pace and variety in the attacking areas with his ability to play on both wings and as a central striker.

Wrexham are yet to sign players from abroad during the ownership of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Ryan Teague was linked last month from Melbourne Victory before making a move to Belgian side KV Mechelen, now Hansen could be the first overseas signing under Wrexham’s owners.

The Red Dragons are looking to add more options to their forward line this summer and Hansen’s profile fits the bill with Parkinson desperate for some explosive power among his options.

It remains to be seen whether the club can seal a deal for the 23-year-old but it would certainly be a signing that goes against the norm of the club’s recent acquisitions.
