Wrexham are set to send another player out on loan for the 2025/26 season.

EFL rules are impacting Wrexham going into their first campaign back in the Championship.

The Red Dragons can only register 25 players aged 21 or over in the second tier, and right now, they have 30 on their books.

It means plenty more exits are expected before the transfer deadline on September 1.

Wrexham have sent Paul Mullin out on loan already, with one of the club’s all-time record goalscorers linking up with Wigan Athletic.

And now, the Welsh powerhouse are loaning out another centre-forward who has struggled for regular minutes at the Racecourse Ground.

Wrexham to loan out Jake Bickerstaff

Born in Liverpool, Jake Bickerstaff began his youth career in Wales before a brief spell with the Reds, ending with a swift return to Wrexham.

Despite being in and around the club since 2015, however, the attacker has not managed to break into the first team.

In total, Bickerstaff has made 24 appearances, scored three goals and provided two assists in all competitions for the Dragons.

He spent 2024/25 on loan in the National League with Altrincham and is now set for another temporary spell away from the club.

Gloucestershire Live report that Cheltenham Town are set to sign Bickerstaff on loan ahead of their 2025/26 campaign, which gets underway this weekend.

There is no mention of a potential option to buy in the deal, likely because Bickerstaff is out of contract at Wrexham next year.

Jake Bickerstaff to reunite with Rob Mac’s favourite player

Some Wrexham fans may already have been following Cheltenham Town a bit more closely over the last year.

At the end of the 2023/24 season after promotion to League One, Wrexham let Luke Young leave for free, and he’s since linked up with Bickerstaff’s new club.

Rob Mac said Young was his favourite player, and he’s since enjoyed a solid spell with the EFL outfit.

The central midfielder made 39 appearances last term, scoring four and assisting three.
