One Wrexham player is expected to struggle when his side face Norwich City this weekend.

Neither team has had the ideal start to the 2025/26 Championship campaign.

Norwich City, who had a fairly busy summer, are still yet to win a home game this season.

As for Wrexham, they have won one of their opening five league matches and could end Saturday in the relegation zone.

Ahead of the fixture, the overarching feeling is that the Canaries are going to come out on top, and another pundit has now had his say on the match.

Josh Sargent to cause Wrexham problems

Wrexham are predicted to lose to Norwich by Sam Parkin, who expects a high-scoring match.

Opta’s supercomputer says that a win for Parkinson’s side is unlikely at Carrow Road.

Now, Ryan Dilks has predicted Norwich to get their season back on track when facing Wrexham.

Dilks spoke about the Dragons’ defensive issues, singling out Conor Coady as a weak point that Josh Sargent could exploit.

He said: “Norwich usually very solid at home, but have struggled so far. However, I fancy them to get back on track here against a Wrexham side who are struggling. Three losses so far for FC Hollywood. It’s not been the start that they would have wanted. To be fair, they’re scoring a fair few goals, creating plenty of chances. The problem is they just cannot defend.

“They’ve got the worst defence in the league in terms of the underlying data. Only had the one game so far where they’ve not conceded at least twice. And so I look at Norwich, I look at Josh Sargent, I think he’s going to have a field day. Connor Cody running in treacle. Yes, please.

“The best striker in the league up against the worst defence in the league. Yes, Norwich have got their own problems, but that is a recipe for victory even if Norwich are struggling to keep it tight themselves.”

Wrexham could have new-look defence vs Norwich

As Dilks mentioned, Wrexham have struggled at the back this season.

They have shipped at least two in every league match apart from their 2-0 win over Millwall.

However, Wrexham had a busy end to the summer transfer window, during which they signed two new defenders.

Neither Dom Hyam nor Issa Kabore have started a match for the Welsh powerhouse yet, but after a week of uninterrupted training, they could be given the nod this weekend.

Hyam and Kabore have experience in the Championship and could add some much-needed stability to Parkinson’s backline.
