The games just keep on coming for Wrexham, but that’s what happens when you make positive progress in the cup competitions.
Phil Parkinson’s men have, in the last month, made it through two rounds of the EFL Trophy to secure a semi-final berth and find themselves one win away from a trip to Wembley.
Wrexham passed Port Vale and Bolton to set up the clash with Peterborough, and while the EFL Trophy was a distraction for the Red Dragons initially, it’s now viewed as a great opportunity to lift some silverware.
Looking ahead to the Peterborough game, we’ve analysed the big decisions facing Parkinson when it comes to team selection, and break down the key injury news with our predicted Wrexham lineup for Wednesday’s match.
Wrexham team and injury news ahead of Peterborough game
The Wrexham squad does have a few issues to contend with. Most notably, Andy Cannon will be unavailable, and could be for a while, after picking up a knee injury against Mansfield Town on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Elliot Lee was deemed not ready for the Mansfield game after his car crash. It’s unlikely Parkinson would throw him in from the start against Peterborough, but there may be a place on the bench for him.
The same goes for Paul Mullin, who’s been chasing sharpness for weeks now. He was back on the bench at the weekend, so he’s obviously ready to play, but might not be quite 100% just yet.
Long-term absentees Callum Burton, Luke Bolton, and Will Boyle will still be unavailable.

Jay Rodriguez has to be dropped for EFL Trophy semi-final
While Wrexham fans will be pleased with the win over Mansfield Town, there is one glaring issue staring Phil Parkinson in the face. The fact is, he hasn’t been able to get a tune out of Sam Smith and Jay Rodriguez yet.
Smith has looked lively, has bagged one goal, and is obviously a big investment for Wrexham. It figures that he will start again this week, but he needs a new partner in attack, and we’d venture a guess that Jack Marriott will get the nod.
Ryan Longman and Sebastian Revan were given the start against Mansfield and we expect them to keep their places. Revan was particularly impressive, and there’s no need to push James McClean back into the team now.
The injury to Cannon also forces Parkinson’s hand, but the solution is fairly simple. Matty James replaced him on Sunday, and he will surely get the starting spot for Wednesday’s game, while the in-form Ollie Rathbone and George Dobson will partner him in the middle of the park.
Wrexham’s defensive unit looks well-balanced now, and we would be surprised if Parkinson broke up the trio of Tom O’Connor, Eoghan O’Connell, and Max Cleworth. Meanwhile, Arthur Okonkwo deserves to keep his place between the sticks after a solid showing against Mansfield.
