Expert names Welsh and ex-Premier League star who Wrexham must target this summer

One EFL expert has suggested that one Welsh striker could be top of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s wishlist this summer.

With promotion to the Championship confirmed for Wrexham, plans are already underway for next season.

One area that could see a significant turnaround in regards to incomings and outgoings is the striker position. Paul Mullin looks likely to leave Wrexham, with Wigan Athletic reportedly interested in the attacker.

On top of that, Wrexham’s frontline options are on the more experienced, yet older side, and Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney could potentially see this as a reason to bring in new players.

There will no doubt still be a reliance on players with top-level experience next season, and one EFL expert has suggested that a Welsh international could fit the bill.

EFL expert suggests that Wrexham could sign Welsh star Kieffer Moore

Whilst there is still uncertainty as to what Wrexham could achieve next season, there is no doubt that Reynolds and McElhenney won’t settle for consolidation.

Because of this, they could turn towards a Championship promotion specialist by the name of Kieffer Moore.

His name was suggested by EFL expert Ryan Dilks, who said: “Kieffer Moore just seems like the most obvious signing of the entire summer. He’s actually out of contract this coming summer, but that just makes a lot of sense for me.”

Having previously played a significant role for Bournemouth and Ipswich Town getting promoted to the Premier League, the latter of which being the season after promotion from League One, there is no doubt that Moore has the ability to take a side up a notch, delivering a brilliant return for goals as well.

For the striker, with 13 goals in 46 for Wales, it could be a decisive factor that Moore may wish to play in his country, which could hand Wrexham an edge in the summer window.

Likelihood of Kieffer Moore signing may depend on Sheffield United vs Sunderland

Whilst Wrexham’s season is over, Moore is still plodding onwards with his club, Sheffield United, who are one game away from promotion to the Premier League.

The Blades will face off against Sunderland at Wembley in a game that could be decisive to Moore’s future at the club.

If Sheffield United do achieve promotion, it would be unlikely that Moore would play a significant role in the Premier League, and could drop down to the Championship once more, giving Wrexham the opportunity to swoop in; the same couldn’t be guaranteed if the Blades remain in the second tier, though.
