Wrexham travel to face local rivals Newport County this weekend as they look to do the double over them. Here is our predicted XI…
Other than a 3-1 defeat to Walsall to end out 2022, Wrexham have been in superb winning form since December.
Since the 16th of December, Phil Parkinson’s side has won every game but one as they have maintained their early season form.
Right now they occupy second place in League Two and a win could potentially take them to the top of the table.
Last time out, a win over Wimbledon was hard-earned and very satisfying. After a tough first half where the away side dominated, the game changed after halftime.
Two goals from James McClean crosses from Steven Fletcher and Paul Mullin were enough to take all three points. This was much to the delight of Rob McElhenney who was overjoyed with the result.

With a local derby on the horizon, the Reds will be hopeful of yet another win over Newport County. Here is our predicted XI…
Wrexham Predicted XI
In goal, there is only going to be one man to take the mantle. Arthur Okonkwo has been superb this season and will keep his place. Hopefully another clean sheet against Newport in the pipeline for him.
In the centre-back roles, there have been some players returning to training in recent weeks. Although that may be the case, the players should maintain their starting roles. Max Cleworth should stay in alongside experienced pair Ben Tozer and Tom O’Connor.
On one flank, James McClean has to keep his place after a sensational performance against Wimbledon last weekend. On the other side, we suggest in our predicted XI that Ryan Barnett should come in and continue his injury recovery from the start. Anthony Forde may not deserve to be dropped but some rotation could be useful to maintain their fitness.
The midfield trio picks itself right now such has been the form the Reds have shown. With George Evans at the base, Wrexham have some great experience and quality. Alongside him in this predicted XI has to be Andy Cannon and Elliot Lee who have been great this season.
Once again, the front two choose themselves at the moment. This predicted XI does only include one potential change, a testament to how good the side is right now. Paul Mullin will keep his regular starting role alongside the in-form Steven Fletcher. The Scotsman has been excellent in recent weeks having scored four in his last two League Two appearances, according to FotMob.
Predicted XI: Okonkwo, Barnett, Cleworth, Tozer, O’Connor, McClean, Evans, Cannon, Lee, Mullin, Fletcher
