Wrexham are set to host Birmingham City in the Championship this Friday evening as they look to secure their first victory at home in the division this campaign.

The clash has been deemed the ‘Hollywood Derby’ due to the celebrity ownership of both sides.

It may be expected that Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac will be in attendance at the clash; however, the Blues co-owner Tom Brady will not be at Wrexham at the weekend for the game.

Phil Parkinson will be looking to build upon their midweek draw with Leicester City by finally delivering a first home victory of the league season, and should he be able to guide his side to that, he will end a 46-year run.

Wrexham are searching for their first league win in 46 years against Birmingham City

The Red Dragons have only ever won once in the league against Birmingham City in their history, with this victory coming in October 1979, when they won 1-0.

That was the first ever league match between the clubs, and since then, the Welsh club have lost three and drawn two.

The Blues were unbeaten against Parkinson’s side last season in League One, when they secured a win at St Andrews before securing a draw away at the Racecourse Ground.

Matty James detailed how Wrexham can beat Birmingham on Friday, believing the key to success is shutting out the outside noise and focusing on the game.

There has been only one other occasion when the Red Dragons have beaten the 2011 EFL Cup winners, when they managed to secure a 3-1 win in the FA Cup in February 1997.

Birmingham City have a strong recent away record against Welsh club

Pressure is seemingly increasing on Chris Davies as the Blues have struggled in the Championship in recent weeks.

However, he may look at the club’s good away record in Wales recently as they look to deny a first home win at the Racecourse Ground for the home side, as they have gone unbeaten in their last four across the Welsh border.

Parkinson may look at their overall record in Wales as a confidence booster as Wrexham look for their first home win of the Championship campaign.

Birmingham had failed to win any of the 14 prior games in Wales between 2011 and 2022, a record the Red Dragons may look to capitalise on.
