Wrexham returned to the Racecourse Ground on Good Friday to face off with an out-of-form Bristol Rovers.

Phil Parkinson gave a positive verdict on Bristol Rovers, but there is no denying the Red Dragons were favourites going into the game.

We predicted Wrexham to beat Bristol and keep a clean sheet, given the latter had lost their previous five fixtures.

And it was imperative the Welsh outfit did exactly that, with Wycombe Wanderers also in action at the same time on Friday.

Wrexham dropped two points in their previous fixture, allowing Mike Dodds’ side to close the gap to a single point.

In turn, anything other than victory for the Hollywood club could have seen them drop down to third place.

But when all was said and done, Wrexham drew 1-1 with Bristol Rovers.

Here is how the Wrexham players rated vs Bristol Rovers –

Arthur Okonkwo – 6

Didn’t have lots to do across the 90 minutes, but maybe could have done better with the opening goal.

Max Cleworth – 5

Passing was good and made some important tackles but could have perhaps done more for the headed goal.

Eoghan O’Connell – 6

Had a good chance to score at the other end of the pitch and was dominant at the back with some big blocks and clearances prior to his injury.

Lewis Brunt – 5

Probably could have been more alert for the goal. Didn’t do much else wrong, however.

Ryan Barnett – 5

A lively showing from the wing-back on his return to the eleven, driving forward often, though his crossing wasn’t as pinpoint as usual.

Ollie Rathbone – 6

Worked his socks off as always, causing problems for Bristol Rovers at both ends of the pitch.

Matty James – 8

Controlled the tempo of the tie from a deep role and made a few clever passes to kick-start attacks. Scored a crucial equaliser.

Elliot Lee – 7

Was Wrexham’s most threatening midfielder for much of the tie, testing Bristol’s defence with some key passes and long-range efforts.

Ryan Longman – 6

Started at left-wing-back and was a threat during his time on the pitch, but could have done more in the final third. Missed a chance when the Bristol keeper was off his line. Linked well with Lee before moving to the right.

Jay Rodriguez – 3

Another fairly quiet showing from the striker before he was inevitably taken off in the second half.

Sam Smith – 6

Nearly set up a goal in the 24th minute, but Ryan Longman skied his chance. Come close to scoring in the 49th minute but connected with the header badly.
