Wrexham were looking to get back to winning ways on Saturday afternoon but couldn’t break down a stubborn Bolton Wanderers side.
The League One promotion race took full focus for Wrexham on Saturday, just days after the EFL Trophy disaster at home to Peterborough United.
Wrexham were stunned against Peterborough, squandering a 2-0 lead in the second half to miss out on the EFL Trophy final – and a trip to Wembley.
Phil Parkinson wanted a big response against Bolton Wanderers and whilst the performance was better, there was to be no goal.
Bolton boss Steven Schumacher praised Wrexham’s ‘huge squad’ ahead of the game but his side stood strong and saw out a 0-0 draw.
The result wasn’t the win that Wrexham wanted, but with Wycombe Wanderers losing at Birmingham City, the gap to second place has at least been cut to two points.

Steve Parkin on Sebastian Revan
Parkinson has been tweaking his side of late in an attempt to bring fresh life to Wrexham’s promotion push.
Sebastian Revan is one man who has come into the side, replacing the injured James McClean as Wrexham’s left wing back.
Revan impressed Parkinson with an exciting display against Mansfield Town and he was in the XI again as Bolton visited.
Revan continues to pose problems up the left flank and Parkinson’s assistant Steve Parkin has now offered praise too.
Speaking to The Athletic, Parkin suggested that Revan did really well defensively whilst also offering a threat going forward.
Parkin added that summer signing Revan was ‘really solid’ with his delivery into the box another positive to his display.
“Seb stuck to his task really well, up against a real forward thinking and driving full back who we have seen lots of video about,” said Parkin.
“I thought he did a great job and never gave him a sniff, really, while also taking him the other way.
“His overall game was really solid, put some good crosses in,” he added.

Revan giving Phil Parkinson something to think about
McClean’s injury has been a blow but he was able to make the bench against Bolton, suggesting that a full return is not far away.
The Wrexham captain was an unused substitute as Revan played the full 90 minutes in Saturday’s 0-0 draw.
What Parkinson does when McClean is fully fit is anybody’s guess, but right now, Revan does not deserve to lose his place.
Maybe Parkinson will shift McClean into midfield with Wrexham still reeling from Andy Cannon’s season-ending injury.
That would allow Revan to keep his place at left wing back and continue his strong performances from the last two games.
Everybody will be needed in the promotion run-in, but Revan may well becoming increasingly important after some quiet spells over the course of the season.
