Wrexham only took a point against Bolton Wanderers on Saturday afternoon but still moved an inch closer to Wycombe Wanderers.
Wrexham’s EFL Trophy defeat to Peterborough United still lingered over the STōK Cae Ras as Bolton Wanderers visited on Saturday afternoon.
Phil Parkinson will have wanted his players to get that defeat out of their minds and respond in style as League One action took full focus once again.
The performance against Bolton Wanderers was better, but Wrexham couldn’t find the net this time.
Wrexham drew 0-0 with the Trotters with the two sides managing just one shot on target each; no surprise there was a stalemate then.
A point wasn’t a terrible result, frustrating perhaps, but Wrexham cut the gap to Wycombe Wanderers to just two points with that draw.

Steve Parkin on Wrexham instructions
Eoghan O’Connell is happy with Wrexham’s position right now, keeping close to Wycombe in the League One table ahead of facing the Chairboys later this month.
Rob McElhenney fancies promotion to the Championship but Wrexham’s patchy form of late means this could go down to the wire.
There were enough encouraging signs on Saturday, it’s just that the ball would not go in for Wrexham on the day.
Boss Parkinson did not speak to the media after Saturday’s game but assistant boss Steve Parkin did offer his view.
Speaking to Wrexham’s official YouTube channel, Parkin highlighted one major area of focus for Wrexham ahead of facing Bolton.
Parkin noted that he and the Wrexham coaching staff really worked on putting more pressure on opponents in the build-up to Saturday’s game.
Parkin accepted that Wrexham not done this side of the game well enough in recent weeks and wanted to see an improvement against Bolton.
Parkinson’s assistant was pleased with the progress with that in mind, but was still frustrated that Wrexham didn’t take all three points.
“We’ve done quite a lot of work with the lads on maybe just getting a little more pressure on the opposition, which we’ve not been necessarily doing as well as we could over the last few weeks,” said Parkin.
“I think we did that really well and we had a spell in the second half, in the context of the game, where there’s three or four chances, certainly a couple where you’d expect to score and probably go on and win the game, so delighted with the way they played, certainly in the second half, but still a little bit frustrated we didn’t win the game,” he added.
Huge March on the horizon for Wrexham
February ended on a sour note for Wrexham with that frustrating defeat at the hands of Peterborough.
There will be no Wembley final for Wrexham in the EFL Trophy but Parkinson and Parkin will be looking for a big March.
The month started with that 0-0 draw against Bolton but there are six games to come in a busy March for Wrexham.
Wrexham travel to take on Huddersfield Town on Tuesday night before welcoming Rotherham United next Saturday.
Wrexham then face an away double-header at Reading and Wycombe before Stockport County visit the STōK Cae Ras yet again.
March ends with a trip to Exeter City, with the next few weeks potential pivotal in Wrexham’s hopes of reaching the Championship.
Fans will want to see Wrexham really piling the pressure on upcoming opponents in an effort to win promotion, with Parkin’s comments music to the eras.
