Wrexham laboured to a 2-2 draw with Cambridge United on Saturday, as a late penalty cost Phil Parkinson’s side.
Wrexham’s draw with Cambridge ended a run of four consecutive league wins, with three coming at the Racecourse Ground.
Ryan Reynolds attended the Cambridge game as Elias Kachunga opened the scoring for the hosts before James McClean and Steven Fletcher’s goals gave Wrexham the lead.
Disappointingly, though, Lewis Brunt gave away a penalty that allowed Dan Nlundulu to earn Cambridge all three points.
Despite the frustrating result, Wrexham fans took to social media to praise Ollie Rathbone’s impact in the buildup to Fletcher’s goal.

Wrexham fans react to Ollie Rathbone’s assist vs Cambridge
Rathbone retrieved the ball from the halfway line, before driving into the box and cutting back for Fletcher to finish.
Wrexham fans took to social media to react to their midfielder’s remarkable assist, with one saying: “Sweet pass by Rathbone!”, whilst another added: “Another lovely pullback by Rathbone.”
One fan said: “Gorgeous from Rathbone there”, with another saying: “All about Rathbone, lad is getting better and better.”
Rathbone continued to impress Wrexham fans online, with one saying: “Ollie Rathbone making magic AGAIN”, whilst another said: “Incredible effort from Rathbone!”
Stats highlight that Rathbone was a bright spark for Wrexham
Alongside his assist, Rathbone had an 85% pass accuracy, including four out of his five long balls up to the likes of Ollie Palmer and Fletcher.
He also produced six defensive recoveries, as well as two clearances and ten successful duels against Cambridge.
Parkinson praised Rathbone after beginning to star in recent weeks despite his slow start to his time at Wrexham. The Wrexham squad may have been flat as they left the Racecourse Ground with only one point, but Rathbone can be as impressed as the Red Dragons fans were with his performance.
