Wrexham fans in complete agreement about Paul Mullin after Bristol Rovers – something’s changed

Wrexham travelled to the Memorial Stadium for a meeting with Bristol Rovers on Saturday.

The Red Dragons dropped points in their previous League One fixture and slipped down to third as a result.

But with Birmingham City not playing until Monday, Wrexham knew a win against Bristol Rovers would see them climb back up into the automatic promotion places.

Phil Parkinson opted for a very similar starting line-up to the one that drew with Cambridge United last time out.

Paul Mullin is not scoring this season and was once again left on the bench in place of Elliot Lee, starting just off Ollie Palmer up front.

The only change to the eleven saw George Dobson drop to the bench and Andy Cannon instead partnering Ollie Rathbone and Matty James in midfield.

Despite their poor away record this term, Wrexham were favourites to pick up the win on Saturday.

Wrexham fans make Paul Mullin point after Bristol Rovers

The away team took the lead after 17 minutes but goalscorer Elliot Lee was injured vs Bristol Rovers just 19 minutes later, being replaced by Mullin.

The 30-year-old’s struggle for goals continued and after Wrexham drew 1-1 with Bristol Rovers, fans have taken to social media to express their frustration at the forward.

One fan wrote: “This is a side that’s screaming out for January. Mullin’s finished, Fletcher can’t move anymore and it’ll be nice to have Big Arth back.”

“Mullin looked laboured after 10 mins,” another added. A third wrote: “Mullin and Fletcher, absolutely useless. Rather of seen Faal come on!”

A fourth stated: “Mullin was never League One level in his prime mate, not sure how you think he will be now.”

Another Wrexham fan added: “Hope Mullin can get it back but doubtful,” with a sixth even calling for Sam Dalby to replace him: “Can we swap Mullin for Dalby at Dundee? I’d take Louis Moult back too.”

A seventh wrote: Inexcusable that result, badly need a striker to play with Marriot when he’s back because Mullin looks like he’s had his ability zapped out of him.”

While an eighth Red Dragons fan added: “I can see why Mullin doesn’t start anymore.”

Wrexham fans have changed their tune on Paul Mullin

It really has been a rough first few months of the 2024/25 season for the striker.

Wrexham fans were backing Mullin amid his lack of goals but with it now 19 matches with just one goal, it appears supporters have finally had enough.

Parkinson and co. should have easily dispatched a side toward the bottom of the table and Mullin had a great chance to help make it 2-0 in the second 45, but rather than cutting it back to Ryan Barnett, he opted to smash an effort well over.

However, with Lee now injured, fans may have to get used to watching the out-of-form centre-forward a lot more in the next two weeks.
