Wrexham’s record away from home hasn’t been the greatest this season, but they travel to Morecambe looking to build on last weekend’s result.

Wrexham, who have scored the most goals at home across England’s top four divisions, put four past Accrington Stanley at the STōK Cae Ras.

Now, Phil Parkinson’s men must turn their attention to a difficult away trip to play-off chasers Morecambe.

The Shrimps have lost just one of their last eight matches in League Two and head into this contest level on points with the final play-off position.

Whilst Morecambe will be terrified by Paul Mullin’s goal record against them, there is every reason to believe they can pull off a mini upset as Wrexham have won just one of their last seven away matches.

Parkinson has been boosted by the news this week that key defender Thomas O’Connor is back in training while there appears to be no more injuries from the win over Accrington.

That means the 56-year-old could name the same starting XI as last weekend.

Wrexham predicted XI vs Accrington

You’re always told to never fall in love with a loan player, but it’s becoming impossible for Wrexham supporters not to have that feeling towards goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo, who boasts the highest save percentage of any goalkeeper in England.

The defensive trio of Max Cleworth, Eoghan Connell and Will Boyle were faultless against Accrington and will likely keep their place here, although Ben Tozer is waiting patiently for his chance.

Ryan Barnett is currently winning the battle against Luke Bolton for the starting spot at right wing-back, however, the former Manchester City academy graduate can exploit the Morecambe low block with his pace and can show supporters why he was hailed as a “real talent”.

Jacob Mendy is enjoying a fruitful run on the other flank with Parkinson claiming he looked “dangerous” against Stanley.

Mendy slotting in at left wing-back has allowed James McClean to take up a central midfield position alongside the ever-present Elliot Lee – who scored last time out – and the energetic Andy Cannon.

McClean has been one of several stand-out performers in the Reds and moving him into midfield has proven to be an inspired decision with a goal and an assist in his last two games.

Ollie Palmer and Mullin rekindled their deadly partnership against Accrington, starting together for the first time since a 2-2 draw away at Harrogate in November.

Given how great they looked together, Parkinson would be foolish to drop Palmer, keeping with the same strike force against Morecambe.
