Wrexham predicted XI vs Stoke City as Phil Parkinson makes Ollie Rathbone decision

Wrexham return to Championship action on Saturday against Stoke City, with Ollie Rathbone and Liberato Cacace both available for selection.

Phil Parkinson has confirmed that Liberato Cacace is back training this week after missing the Dragons’ last five league matches due to injury.

Elsewhere, Ollie Rathbone has been added to the Championship squad after being left out in September on the back of a pre-season blow that left him sidelined for several months.

Both are key players for Wrexham, and Parkinson will have to decide if either should be thrust straight back into the eleven versus Stoke City on October 18.

The Wrexham Insider have now predicted the side that will start the game as Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac’s club go in search of their third win of the season.

With Danny Ward injured, Arthur Okonkwo will keep his place between the sticks on Saturday.

Okonkwo has been poor since replacing Ward, but Parkinson seems unwilling to give third-choice goalkeeper Callum Burton a chance in the league.

In front of the former Arsenal man, Wrexham’s backline is expected to remain unchanged.

Cacace should be the starting left-wing-back long-term, but Parkinson probably isn’t too keen on rushing him back after two separate injuries already this season.

The two-man midfield is again expected to be unchanged. There’s an argument for Rathbone coming in for Sheaf, but it’s more plausible that we see Wrexham’s 2024/25 Player of the Season return from the bench due to his lack of minutes since August.

Further forward is where things start to get tricky. Nathan Broadhead shone on international duty for Wales this month and has added some much-needed pace to the Dragons’ attack whenever he comes off the bench in the league.

However, Josh Windass and Lewis O’Brien have both provided solid goal threats this term, scoring six and assisting two between them.

The sole striker spot will go to Kieffer Moore, barring any unknown injury problems.

It will be the same eleven that started against Birmingham, but the returns of Rathbone and Cacace from the bench will give Wrexham much more of a threat late on.
