Wrexham take on Stoke City in the Championship on Saturday afternoon. But the Dragons have only ever beaten the Potters once.

Wrexham and Stoke City are now playing in the same division for the first time 2002. Since then, Wrexham have spent several years in the National League whilst Stoke City have spent time in the Premier League.

Right now, Phil Parkinson’s side sit in 18th place of the Championship table after Wrexham’s 1-1 draw with Birmingham City before the break.

Mark Robins’ Stoke sit in 5th place and like Wrexham, they’ve drawn their last three in the league.

Wrexham’s shocking record vs Stoke City

Wrexham have played Stoke City 17 times in their history. The very first meeting between the two sides was way back in 1926 in the Division Three (North), with Stoke winning 2-0 and setting themselves up for a dominant record over the Dragons.

In their 17 meetings, Stoke have won an incredible 16 of those. Wrexham have won just once, coming in the 1998/99 Division 2 season.

The last time these two teams met was in 2015 in the FA Cup. Stephen Ireland scored a late brace as the Potters came from behind to beat a Wrexham side managed by Kevin Wilkin, playing in the Conference.

Phil Parkinson’s record vs Stoke City is even worse

Wrexham fans might not have known just how bad their record was against Stoke City. But Parkinson’s is even worse with no wins as a manager against Stoke.

Parkinson has overseen three games against Stoke City in his managerial career and two came as Bolton Wanderers manager, one as Hull City manager.

He last faced the Potters as Bolton manager in the 2018/19 Championship campaign with the teams actually drawing 0-0.

Wrexham might yet take a goalless draw at the bet365 Stadium on Saturday.
