Wrexham were aiming to make it four wins from four when they travelled to Burton on Saturday, December 7th.
The Burton vs Wrexham fixture was cast into doubt ahead of kick-off due to Storm Darragh, which is currently making its way across the UK.
However, the game was eventually given the go-ahead on Saturday morning, though conditions for the match weren’t great.
Phil Parkinson made three, all enforced, changes to his starting eleven for the game. Suspended duo James McClean and George Dobson were replaced by Sebastian Revan and Andy Cannon, while Mark Howard came in for the injured Callum Burton.
Wrexham were pretty poor in the first 45, but that was in part due to the torrential rain really slowing play down.
However, Wrexham did beat Burton 1-0, thanks to a second-half goal from midfielder turned striker, Elliot Lee.

One Wrexham star outshone Elliot Lee vs Burton
After that win, the Welsh side have maintained second place in League One but are now only behind Wycombe due to goal difference.
Wrexham fans were left in awe of Lee after he scored directly from a corner in the 65th minute.
However, while the 29-year-old stole the show and won the game, another player was simply unplayable across the entire 90 minutes.
The man in question was Eoghan O’Connell, who started at the heart of the Red Dragons backline.
O’Connell had a tough 90 minutes owing to the weather and the fact he was up against pacey striker, Rumarn Burrell.
However, Burrell was taken off in the 71st minute after failing to have a shot on goal, in no small part due to the heroics of the Wrexham defender.

Eoghan O’Connell stats in Wrexham vs Burton
This is not the first time of late that the 29-year-old has been excellent for Wrexham this season.
Andy Morrell named O’Connell his Man of the Match after the win over Barnsley earlier this week.
And the stats, as per Sofascore, show he was once again Wrexham’s best player on the day this time around.
| Eoghan O’Connell | Stats vs Burton |
| Sofascore rating | 8.0 (team-high) |
| Clearances | 5 |
| Blocked shots | 1 |
| Interceptions | 6 |
| Last man tackles | 1 |
| Duels (won) | 15 (9) |
| Touches | 75 |
Wrexham have now kept four clean sheets on the spin and their 11 goals conceded in 19 matches is by far and away the best record in League One – Wycombe are second with 16 shipped.
O’Connell has played a crucial part in that and his continued excellence will no doubt play a major role in where the Welsh side end 2024/25.
