Wrexham manager, Phil Parkinson has opened up about the January transfer window but remained coy on any potential business.
It has been a great start to life back in the EFL and League Two for Wrexham as they currently sit in third place.
Thanks to the work of Phil Parkinson at the helm, the Reds have gone from National League to the top end of the league above. With 21 games played, so far 11 wins and seven draws have seen 40 points be collated.
As the year counts down towards 2024, the January transfer window is fast approaching. The Reds haven’t been without issues. Injury troubles have been felt by players like Steven Fletcher and Ryan Barnett this season.

As a result of this, the winter window will pose an opportunity to bring in some players to add additional squad depth.
What has Phil Parkinson said about January?
Given the form of the Reds this season, there have been some star performers throughout the team. Because of this, there isn’t too much reason to go out and spend lots of money in the January window.
With that being said, speaking with Leader Live, Parkinson has opened up about potential transfers in the coming month.
On that, he said: “I don’t want to make any predictions for January in terms of incoming players. We have got a strong squad but we are always looking. As our supporters know, we are always striving to improve and we are assessing a lot of situations at the moment but we are keeping our cards close to our chest.”
Considering that the Reds are sat at the top end of League Two it is clear to see that they have a good squad. Over the summer the signings of George Evans and Arthur Okonkwo have been successful. With that, they can be hopeful of some positive January recruitment.
Although this is the case, it still begs the question of whether or not Parkinson wants any additions. On that, he said: “We are just assessing the squad as we go along. We have got players coming back from injury and we have got other players who haven’t even been in the 22-man squad so once January 1 kicks in, we can then bring those players back into the squad because the 22-man squad rule doesn’t count through January.”
Wrexham have made a great start to life back in the EFL and now back-to-back promotions look like a real possibility. The January window poses the chance to keep that form going no matter how coy Parkinson is.
