Wrexham-linked Jamie Vardy confirms Leicester City exit

Humphrey Ker refused to rule out targeting Vardy a year ago and the door now looks to be open for a summer swoop.

This comes with Leicester City confirming on April 24 that Vardy will leave the King Power Stadium at the end of the 2024/25 season.

Vardy commented on the news in an official post on his Instagram account, marking the end of a historic 13-year spell.

Why Wrexham would struggle to sign Jamie Vardy

The striker has enjoyed a remarakble career and Rio Ferdinand urged Vardy to join Wrexham earlier this season.

However, there is one obvious stumbling block that could prevent a deal from happening.

Humphrey Ker recently admitted Wrexham must quadruple their wage bill if they are promoted to the Championship fo 2025/26.

But even with a higher expendature planned, it seems unlikley they would be able to afford Vardy’s wage.

Capology report that the former England international is taking home £140,000-a-week – a figure that dwarfs any current Wrexham star’s salary.
