Former player Andy Morrell has been full of praise for Wrexham after they took another step closer to promotion against Blackpool.
What a whirlwind few days it has been for the Red Dragons and their fans, but things are looking up now.
Wrexham were predicted to finish third in League One after they drew with Bristol Rovers, who had lost six on the spin prior to the meeting on Friday.
However, the tables have once again turned in the promotion race this week after Wycombe Wanderers lost to Charlton Athletic.
Wrexham beat Blackpool 2-1 in their clash on Monday, regaining second place going into the final two fixtures.
It was an impressive showing from Phil Parkinson’s side, with James McClean scoring his first goal of 2025 in the victory.

Wrexham legend praises Ollie Rathbone and Dan Scarr
Ollie Rathbone scored Wrexham’s other goal in the 2-1 win as he continues to prove himself as a simply superb summer signing.
One man who hasn’t seen as much game time as he would have perhaps liked this term, however, is fellow summer arrival, Dan Scarr.
But after Eoghan O’Connell picked up a knock versus Bristol Rovers on Friday, Phil Parkinson opted to hand the ex-Plymouth Argyle man a start on Monday.
The centre-back was excellent and he, along with Rathbone, earned praise from Andy Morrell on social media post-match.
The ex-Wrexham star also suggested that McClean could have bagged himself a hat-trick on the day.
He said: “What a performance when required! Every player at it from minute 1, Rathbone and Scarr very impressive.
“This team keeps coming out swinging when chips are down! Could have been 5 today and a McClean hat trick but a W will do! Big swing again today. Keep the faith UTT.”

Phil Parkinson facing difficult decision for Charlton Athletic clash
Next up for Wrexham is a huge meeting with an in-form Charlton who are looking to make a very, very late push for promotion.
The Addicks are now just four points adrift of second and can secure a top-two finish if they win their final fixtures.
It’s going to be a very intense affair at the Racecourse Ground and Parkinson will have to decide if he’s sticking with Scarr or will bring O’Connell back into the side.
The latter was fit enough for the bench on Monday, so all being well, should be ready to return this weekend.
But it would mean dropping Scarr after he put in arguably his best performance in a Wrexham shirt.
