Wrexham have a number of players preparing for their first taste of Championship football.
Phil Parkinson wants to keep a winning mentality at Wrexham and has hinted that a strong core of the current squad will remain at the Racecourse Ground next season.
Max Cleworth and Lewis Brunt are examples of players expected to be regulars for the Red Dragons next season but have never played in the Championship.
Cleworth was praised by his teammates in winning the young player of the season award and another player with no experience in the second tier is goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo. He has been sharing his preparation for the new challenge.

Arthur Okonkwo reveals preparation for Wrexham’s Championship campaign
Okonkwo is ready to attack the Championship with the Red Dragons and speaking to Amanpour and Company as per the Leader, the 23-year-old is doing all he can to be ready.
Okonkwo stated: “It’s hard to prepare for a league I’ve never played in before but, the most I can do is, obviously, increase my training this summer, to make sure I’m physically ready.
“That’s the most important thing and then, yeah, you know, the manager will have plans in place on how we can achieve big things this season and what we need to do, and taking those things on board.
“I think the biggest thing is adaptation, being able to adapt from League One up to the Championship, because it’s a huge shift and I think, you know, with the manager, the players he brings in, the players we have, I have full confidence going into next season.”
Arthur Okonkwo will be Wrexham number one despite Danny Ward interest
Wrexham are in talks with Danny Ward over a deal to return to North Wales following his release from Leicester City.
Should the deal be completed, Okonkwo will not be worried about his status as the number one choice under Parkinson after a sensational end to the League One campaign.
| Arthur Okonkwo’s Wrexham record | Appearances | Goals Conceded | Clean sheets |
| Okonwko | 77 | 62 | 36 |
Okonkwo turned down ‘bigger’ clubs in order to join the project at Wrexham last summer and will now be relishing the chance to prove himself in the second tier.
Ward would provide further experience in and around the camp but is far from Okonkwo’s ability and the young goalkeeper is set to enhance his tremendous reputation.
