Bristol Rovers manager Inigo Calderon has been somewhat vocal ahead of his side’s game at Wrexham on Friday afternoon.
Bristol Rovers are facing relegation to League Two under manager Inigo Calderon, who’s not been shy in admitting where his team is at right now.
Speaking in the build up to the Wrexham game, Calderon suggested the Bristol Rovers players aren’t good enough for League One. Phil Parkinson won’t expect an easy game on Friday, though.
Last time out Wrexham drew 0-0 with Wigan Athletic in a game that showed the Dragons still struggle against some of the league’s weaker teams, and the added pressure of the promotion race certainly won’t help their cause.
But the Gas go into this one on the back of six-straight defeats in League One. They sit in the drop zone only on goal difference but they’re deservedly there, with Calderon’s side having looked pretty woeful of late.

Inigo Calderon’s prediction for Wrexham vs Bristol Rovers on Friday
Speaking to Bristol Live about how he thinks the game might pan out, Calderon inevitably predicted that his side could be in for ‘a long day’ if things don’t go their way. But he’s not ruling out his side’s chances of an upset entirely and Parkinson knows an upset could be on the cards, after Bristol Rovers drew 1-1 with Wrexham earlier in the season.
Calderon said: “I think if we have a good game, that crowd I think can help us because probably they will feel the pressure of losing against a team that was dead before, but at the same time, [if] we don’t have a good day, [it] could be a long day.
“Obviously if they are better than us and they are winning or they’re just being better than us, [it] could be a long day. But as I say, [it] could be either way and the thing is we cannot control that. But it’s true that [if] we have a good day, and I think why not, it can even help us.”

Rich Fay gives his prediction for Wrexham vs Bristol Rovers
Calderon isn’t the only one who’s spoken out about how he thinks the game on Friday might pan out. So too has journalist Rich Fay who’s backed the Dragons to get an all important win.
Fay gave his prediction for Wrexham against Bristol Rovers saying: “We’ve got to just support them. We’ve got to get them over the line. They’ve done us so proud this season. They’ve exceeded expectation.
“They are on the brink of history: back-to-back-to-back, three in a row, we’ve got to believe that it can happen. I’ve got full faith that we’ll win on Friday. I really have.”
Wrexham have some vastly experienced players in their ranks and so they should be able to handle the occasion. But Bristol Rovers will put up a good fight with a lot on the line for them as well.
Kick off is at 3pm on Friday.
