Christian Eriksen’s stunning Manchester United salary revealed as Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac’s Wrexham make contact

Earlier in the summer, Christian Eriksen was loosely linked with a move to Wrexham. Now, it looks like a move could quickly gather speed.

Christian Eriksen is on the market. Manchester United released Eriksen at the end of last season and he’s set to join a new club this summer.

At the age of 33, though, where he might end up remains to be seen. Earlier in the summer, there were reports linking Wrexham with a move for Eriksen.

At the time, they seemed far-fetched and many might deem them to be so still. However, reports on Friday claimed that Wrexham have made an approach to sign Eriksen this summer.

There were even quotes from Eriksen’s agent who failed to rule out a possible summer move to the Racecourse. He was quoted as saying: “Wrexham are really upgrading everything both on and off the field, and it is a hugely impressive project, as you can see from the presence of people like [CEO] Michael Williamson there.

“But Christian still wants to play in a first-tier competition and he absolutely wants to stay in Western Europe. There are some contacts going on but it has to suit both sides.”

Whilst many might be excited by the signing, there might be a few more worried about how much the potential deal could cost owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac.

Christian Eriksen’s staggering Manchester United wages

Earlier in the summer it was revealed that Wrexham will pay up to £25,000-per-week on new player wages. It’s a significant step up from League One and it puts them in the upper echelons of the Championship in terms of weekly player wages.

However, it is a far cry from what Eriksen was earning at Manchester United previously. Per Salary Sport, the Danish international was a staggering £170,000-per-week at Old Trafford. Of course, that is well out of Wrexham’s pay range. Even if the club were to make an exception to sign someone like Eriksen, it is highly unlikely they would go much further beyond this £25,000 limit.

But at 33 years old, Eriksen may well be ready to take a significant pay cut with interest from the likes of Saudi Arabia. There’s every chance that Eriksen could secure another six-figure salary. It simply depends on his ambitions and where he wants to play next.

Who is Wrexham’s highest earning player after the signing of Lewis O’Brien?

Going into this season, George Dobson was Wrexham’s highest paid player at the club at a rumoured £7,200-a-week. But given the step up to the Championship and the step up in player wages, it now seems likely that one of the new signings is the club’s highest paid player now.

Per Salary Sport, Josh Windass was earning £18,000-a-week at Sheffield Wednesday last season, whilst O’Brien was earning £45,000-a-week at Forest. It is likely one of the two is the club’s highest earning player now, perhaps more likely O’Brien given the fact that Wrexham paid a club record £5m fee to sign him from Nottingham Forest.

Should Eriksen sign, then he would undoubtedly become the club’s highest paid player. Right now though, as was the case earlier in the summer, Eriksen to Wrexham seems like a bit of a pipe dream for Reynolds and Mac.

Where Parkinson bolsters next remains to be seen, but the recent flurry of transfer activity has been exciting and we can expect to see more before Wrexham open their championship campaign against Southampton on August 9th.
