Wales are set to face England during the international break, with a pair of Wrexham players set to be included in the fixture.

The Wrexham pair selected by Craig Bellamy were Kieffer Moore and Nathan Broadhead for this game and the World Cup qualifier against Belgium.

It is an important set of fixtures for Wales as they look to ensure they reach consecutive World Cups after they qualified for the Qatar tournament in 2022.

However, there will be, to some, more importance in beating old enemies England in their own backyard.

Bellamy has given his players a clear objective for the game in what is arguably the toughest of his tenure so far at the helm of his country.

Craig Bellamy is demanding his Wales squad embody the 2011 Wembley performance

Wales have not beaten England since 1984, when they did so in a Home Nations clash, so a win is long overdue; however, Bellamy was part of a Welsh squad against the Three Lions that seemed to reignite the sport in the country.

While he was suspended and not allowed to take part, this fixture under former manager Gary Speed was seen as the turning point and the confidence boost to help Wales qualify for the 2016 European Championships.

Now Bellamy wants the Wrexham stars and the rest of his squad to perform like Wales did that day to shock their rivals.

Speaking to Wales Online, he said: “I was suspended, but I thought it was brilliant.

“I’d love it to be the same for us now. I don’t like defeats. But watching the team play the way they did was one of the proudest I’ve been.

“To watch the group of players go to Wembley and dominate like the way they did – and they really did.

“This is not me trying to spin it. It was definitely that.

“That to me always burns, and I’d love to be able to have that moment like he had. But maybe with a result going our way.”

Wrexham stars’ impact on this Wales squad

Kieffer Moore and Nathan Broadhead are the two Wrexham stars that have been called up to the Wales squad for this important fixture.

Moore is in fine form for Wales this calendar year, as he has scored twice in his three games and will likely play an important role over this international break.

He has made 50 appearances for Wales so far and will look to add to this and his tally of 15 goals.

Meanwhile, Broadhead has only become a regular international fixture since 2023; however, injuries have had an impact on his appearances for the nation.

He has only earned 14 caps, scoring two goals in that time, but he will be confident he can add to those after his recent fine for his club with Phil Parkinson being a huge fan of Broadhead.
