Phil Parkinson says what he really thinks about Nathan Broadhead after Wrexham draw at Leicester City

Nathan Broadhead scored his first league goal for Wrexham on Tuesday in the 1-1 draw at Leicester City.

Wrexham invested heavily in Welsh international Nathan Broadhead over the summer, but the attacker has been in mixed form since arriving at the Racecourse.

Wrexham paid a club record fee to sign Broadhead who cost £10million from Ipswich Town. Since, he’s scored once in five league games and twice in all competitions.

Broadhead scored his first Wrexham goal in the Carabao Cup win over Reading last month before finishing neatly off the bench as Wrexham drew 1-1 with Leicester City in the Championship.

Phil Parkinson is a huge fan of Wrexham record signing Nathan Broadhead

Phil Parkinson clearly sees some big potential in Broadhead given how much the club paid to sign the 27-year-old. And despite his mixed start to life at Wrexham, Broadhead is steadily starting to show his qualities after spending a bit of time on the sidelines.

Speaking after the Leicester City game, Parkinson lavished praise on Broadhead, describing him as a really dangerous player in front of goal, but also praising his all round performance when he came off the bench away at Leicester City.

Parkinson said: “He’s very dangerous player when the ball hits him around the box. He’s so dangerous. You always feel something’s going to happen. Everyone is on the edge of their seats with him and so pleased for him. It’s a great moment. But not just that, his all round game. I thought it was brilliant when he came on.”

Nathan Broadhead could replace Wrexham teammate vs Birmingham City

Up next, Wrexham play Birmingham City in the Championship on Friday night. It promises to be an exciting game in front of the Sky Sports cameras and Parkinson will need every bit of quality he has in the side to take something from the game.

And it’s exactly the kind of game where Broadhead’s Premier League and international level quality can shine through and potentially win the game for Wrexham.

After his impressive Leicester cameo, he could yet replace Josh Windass in the XI on Friday: Windass already has three goals in the league this season but he’s been pretty anonymous in the last two games, particularly so against Leicester City.

For Broadhead, a start against Birmingham City, and a good performance would be the best way to really announce his big money move to North Wales.

Kick off is at 8pm on Friday night.
