Dan Scarr has failed to cement himself as a regular starter since arriving at Wrexham over the summer.

Phil Parkinson was backed heavily by owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds in the most recent transfer window

Nine new faces arrived at the Racecourse Ground, one of which was centre-back, Dan Scarr.

Wrexham signed Scarr for a fee of around £290,000 and his addition seemed like a huge one at the time.

The 29-year-old brought a wealth of experience from a higher level, playing a crucial role in Plymouth Argyle avoiding relegation from the Championship in the 2023/24 season.

However, despite his obvious quality and experience, Scarr has really struggled to earn regular starts at the Racecourse and has not been shy about expressing his feelings on the matter.

Dan Scarr feelings on lack of Wrexham playing time already clear

Following his transfer, the Bromsgrove-born player was left on the bench for the Red Dragons’ first seven League One outings of the season.

But after Max Cleworth suffered an injury vs Leyton Orient Scarr made his first league Wrexham start versus Stevenage, which ended in a 1-0 defeat.

Following that match and leading up to a meeting with Northampton Town, Scarr sent a clear message to Phil Parkinson about his playing time.

He said: “The atmosphere has been great every time I’ve been on the bench.

“It would be nice to get a start and play in front of the home fans. I am sure we will have a good chance to put it right.”

The stopper went on to start that 4-1 win and the proceeding five matches but has now once again dropped down the centre-back pecking order of late.

Scarr was ‘frustrated’ by his Wrexham minutes back in September and that frustration is likely to have returned this month.

The centre-half has been left on the bench for the club’s last five League One ties – only making one appearance in the EFL Trophy vs Crewe Alexandra in the last month.

Phil Parkinson comments could be good news for Dan Scarr

While Scarr is unlikely to be happy with his current situation, he could see more minutes in the coming weeks.

Wrexham are set to play four games in 12 days, beginning with an away clash versus Bristol Rovers on Saturday.

Ahead of the hectic period, Parkinson spoke about having a squad good enough to cope with such a schedule, as per Leader Live.

He said: “It’s a busy schedule coming up but we have got the squad to cope with that, and that’s what football’s all about.

“It’s all about enjoying that; the lads love playing games and as a manager and staff, we enjoy matchday.

“The games come thick and fast but everyone knows the schedule at the start of the season and we are ready for each one as they come along.”

This seemingly suggests he will be making changes in the coming games, which could open the door for Scarr to start his first league match in over a month.
