Wrexham have secured promotion to the Championship following an emphatic 3-0 win over Charlton Athletic.
Ollie Rathbone got the Red Dragons going with a thumping strike on 15 minutes and the lead was doubled just three minutes later as Sam Smith fired brilliantly past the Charlton keeper.
Wrexham then used their experience to see the game out before Max Cleworth’s cross was diverted home by Smith via a deflection to secure League One promotion for Phil Parkinson’s side.
Nathan Jones called Wrexham a ‘circus’ in the build up to the match and one star of the Wrexham player ratings v Charlton has revealed how the words were used to motivate the Red Dragons for the victory.

Dan Scarr reveals Phil Parkinson’s team talks amid ‘circus’ comment
Speaking to Sky Sports during their post match coverage of Wrexham’s victory over Charlton Athletic, defender Dan Scarr revealed how Parkinson used the ‘circus’ comment as motivation.
Scarr praised the fans and initially made reference to Jones’s comment in his words for the Red Dragons supporters, he stated: “They’ve been brilliant, they’ve been brilliant, there you go the ‘circus have been brilliant all season, all season home and away.”
The 30-year-old was then asked about whether the squad had reacted to the pre match comments and explained: “There were a few team talks with ‘circus’ in so yeah, we’ve done it.”
The Red Dragons produced another fantastic performance off the back of their show at Blackpool and can now look forward to the challenge of the Championship next season.
Dan Scarr reveals Wrexham game plan v Charlton
Wrexham blew their opponents away with a blistering start to the game and Scarr revealed that was the plan from Parkinson and his coaching staff.
Scarr stated: “That was the game plan, come out and start aggressive, we got the two goals and it gave us a little cushion and everyone could relax a little bit.”

Eoghan O’Connell missed the Charlton clash with a knee injury but Scarr was more than reliable as his replacement.
The experienced, towering defending produced a magnificent display at the back to lead his side to an evening they will never forget.
