Elliot Lee says players ‘won’t last’ at Wrexham if they show one trait, Phil Parkinson’s stance is clear

Wrexham face a huge summer transfer window as Phil Parkinson looks to bolster his squad for life in the Championship.

The domestic season is now over and Wrexham will be seeking new additions to Phil Parkinson’s squad.

Back-to-back-to-back promotions have catapulted Wrexham into the Championship, but Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have no plans to stand still.

Reports suggest Wrexham are willing to splash the cash this summer and speculation is beginning to mount.

Aaron Cresswell is on Wrexham’s radar and reports suggest Wrexham now lead the race for Sunusi Ibrahim of CF Montreal.

Wrexham may target a mixture of experience and potential, but new signings must fit into the culture Parkinson has created.

Elliot Lee on Wrexham dressing room culture

Parkinson has established a brilliant culture at Wrexham, where the team means more than any individual.

The hype around this Wrexham rise means Parkinson must be extra careful with his recruitment.

Not only does Parkinson need to make sure potential signings can cope with the added scrutiny, but he must also ensure players aren’t just interested in signing to boost their profiles.

Parkinson has done that brilliantly so far, and whilst Paul Mullin has been Wrexham’s goalscoring hero since his 2021 move, this journey has all been about the collective unit.

Elliot Lee has also pointed out that message, telling Wrexham’s official YouTube channel that the team mentality comes above any individual.

Lee sent a clear message to any potential signings this summer, stating that anybody with an inflated ego simply won’t last at Wrexham.

Lee believes that mentality comes down from the manager and through the Wrexham squad, and it’s something he clearly wants to keep.

“From the gaffer, all the way down to the lads, we’re all a team,” said Lee.

“That’s all we’re about, the team. There’s no individuals here, there’s no egos because, if you have that, you won’t last in our dressing room, you won’t last in our team,” he added.

Phil Parkinson has made clear transfer stance

Lee has certainly bought into Parkinson’s approach at Wrexham and any new signing must do the same this summer.

Parkinson commented on Wrexham’s transfer plans after winning promotion, stating that there would be ‘no superstars, no egos’.

Parkinson laughed off the notion of signing Kevin De Bruyne or Jamie Vardy and will be carefully looking for players who fit into the Wrexham culture.

Agents are frantically calling Wrexham to offer players to Parkinson, but Wrexham will be doing thorough homework on any potential addition.

The last thing Parkinson wants is for one or two signings to ruin this Wrexham culture, which has provided the backbone for three straight promotions – and hopefully, a fourth to come.
