Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have been praised by a finance expert this week, who has explained the ‘big advantage’ the duo have given the club.
Since the takeover in 2021, Wrexham have been completely transformed on and off the pitch.
In four full seasons under Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, the Dragons have climbed out of the National League after 15 years and reached the Championship.
As well as making history with three promotions in a row, Wrexham have grown massively behind the scenes.
This has been in no small part due to the unprecedented success of the Welcome to Wrexham documentary series, which has just wrapped up its fourth season.
Wrexham have recorded record profits, and over £40m in turnover is predicted for 2025/26.

Wrexham given ‘big advantage’ by Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds
Now, one finance expert has been praising Reynolds and McElhenney for one ‘big advantage’ they have given Wrexham.
Since the rise of Welcome to Wrexham, several more clubs, including Birmingham City, have started their own documentary series.
However, when speaking to the Athletic, Kieran Maguire believes the Welsh club have the advantage because they did it first.
He said: “There’s a big first-mover advantage here. It’s a limited market for football documentaries, and Wrexham already have the audience.
“I’m teaching in Charlotte, (in the U.S. state of North) Carolina, in a couple of weeks’ time. I did the same gig last year and the first thing that struck me was the number of Wrexham football shirts. As soon as I said I do football stuff in the UK, they were all asking if I knew about Wrexham and (saying) how wonderful the club is. Fair play to the owners for that, as they’re very personable.
“This is where I can’t see Modric making a big difference (at Swansea) — he didn’t have a long career due to smiling a lot, did he? But what I will say is there’s no downside commercially to, say, Bale or Modric getting involved.
“Take Bale at Cardiff. He’d be front of house as a Wales feel-good factor. He won’t move the dial like we’ve seen in Wrexham but it could help if the marketing department are trying to get a deal over the line and a potential sponsor can have lunch with Bale, or a golf morning, maybe with a signed Real Madrid shirt thrown in for good measure.”

Will there be a season 5 of Welcome to Wrexham
The latest series ended in June and showed the club’s journey from League One up to the Championship.
Another season of Welcome to Wrexham has already been commissioned by FX and will likely document the Welsh side as they navigate the second tier of English football for the first time since the 1980s.
Meanwhile, a Welcome to Wrexham spinoff has been launched and will air this summer, covering Necaxa, whom Rob and Ryan are invested in.
