One Wrexham player looks likely to leave Phil Parkinson’s side, with the Red Dragons unlikely to put faith in him.
Ahead of the 2024/25 Championship season, Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson is looking to cut down on his options to make space for arrivals.
Parkinson is particularly keen to get rid of attackers this summer; with Steven Fletcher already out of the door, Paul Mullin has also left Wrexham on loan, joining League One side Wigan Athletic.
Sam Dalby was considered part of Wrexham’s plans, having been offered a contract, but the Englishman turned it down in favour of Bolton Wanderers.
The Wrexham boss is not stopping there with making cuts to his side as one Red Dragons forward, who hasn’t played for Parkinson’s side since January 2024, is seemingly on his way out of the club after he was pictured training with a non-league side.

Wrexham striker Jake Bickerstaff pictured training with Oldham Athletic
After previous loan spells away from the Racecourse Ground, it looks like Jake Bickerstaff will once again depart Wrexham, either on a loan or permanent basis.
With Bickerstaff’s future up in the air, eagle-eyed Wrexham fans spotted that he was involved in training with National League side Oldham Athletic, where he is seemingly on trial.
Bickerstaff’s tenure at Wrexham has been very stop-and-start, having not been handed a single minute of game time since the 2023/24 season. In the second half of that campaign, he endured a difficult spell at Accrington Stanley before moving to Altrincham in the 2024/25 season.
The 23-year-old has now had three loans away from the club, and with him now on trial with Oldham, it confirms that he is not part of Parkinson’s plans.
Wrexham need to prioritise more arrivals before the season kicks off
Whilst it is important for Wrexham to ensure that the squad is not overinflated, which would make Phil Parkinson’s role incredibly difficult in keeping everyone happy, it was expected that more arrivals would be through the doors at the Racecourse Ground by now.
Departures are coming thick and fast for Wrexham, but, regarding strikers, only one has joined.
As things stand, Wrexham do still have plenty of time to bring in the correct recruits, but the sooner they do it, the less stress is placed upon Parkinson’s shoulders to help them morph into the group.
This summer was always set to be full of change, and hopefully, there is a clear plan with regard to arrivals that is soon actioned.
