Wrexham’s rise continues with Phil Parkinson chasing a third promotion in a row after a strong start to life in League One.

Wrexham may have lost 1-0 to Stockport County on Saturday afternoon but still sit third in the League One table.

Phil Parkinson and co have enjoyed a strong start to the season and are deservedly in the mix at the top end of the table.

Ryan Reynolds wants another promotion this season but Wrexham should not be too disheartened if that doesn’t happen this season.

The progress made under Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds has been simply incredible to witness.

Wrexham had been stuck in non-league before McElhenney and Reynolds paid £2million for the club and the sky now appears to be the limit.

Former NFL quarterbacks shares Wrexham love

Wrexham are not only thriving on the pitch but also off it with new fans emerging all over the world.

‘Welcome to Wrexham’ has proven to be a massive hit and the fanbase in the United States is growing and growing.

Celebrities have shown an interest in Wrexham, from Hugh Jackson to Paul Rudd and even Will Ferrell.

Former NFL quarterback Joey Harrington has now joined in having declared his love for Wrexham.

Harrington was drafted third overall in the 2002 NFL Draft with the Detroit Lions selecting him out of Oregon.

Harrington didn’t quite live up to expectations and was last seen in the NFL back in the 2008 season.

Now often seen in the media discussing the Oregon Ducks, Harrington has told The Athletic all about his love for Wrexham.

Harrington highlighted that he has experienced the cut-throat nature of business in sport, suggesting that there was back-stabbing going on in the NFL.

Harrington now loves Wrexham because the club understands community and valuing people, something Harrington absolutely loves.

“Later, I got to the NFL and it was a business — ‘What can you do for me? How am I going to get mine?’, stabbing people in the back to get another year (on your contract). Which I get when you’re in a multi-billion dollar business.

“But my point is I’ve personally experienced what can happen when you get a group of people together who truly not just care about the goal — which is coming out of irrelevance into prominence — but also each other. I see the same thing at Wrexham.

“There’s more to it than just putting butts on seats, there’s more to it than just scratching and clawing your way to the top. It’s how you do it and who you bring along and why you do it that also matters. Wrexham get that.”

Rob McElhenney visited Joey Harrington in Oregon

Harrington admitted waking up early in the morning over in the United States in order to watch Wrexham games.

The former quarterback is watching from his native Oregon and actually had a visit from Rob McElhenney.

McElhenney visited Oregon for their huge college football clash with Ohio State and posed for photos with Harrington.

McElhenney even joked about finding a Wrexham signing in Oregon as one Ducks fan won $100,000 for converting a field goal before the game.

It’s clear that Wrexham have a place in Harrington’s heart and it would be little surprise to see him visit Wrexham in the future.
