Wrexham have had many players over recent years leave, and one Red Dragons man who had a ‘difficult season’ last year is currently trying his best to find another club following his release from the Racecourse Ground.

Since the Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac era began at Wrexham, there has been an incredible turnover of players.

The Red Dragons have managed three successive promotions, taking them from the National League to the Championship, something that has led to Phil Parkinson having to move players on when stepping up a level.

Several players left Wrexham this summer following the jump up to the Championship, including Paul Mullin, who was sanctioned a loan move to Wigan Athletic. It also looks likely that Ollie Palmer could leave Wrexham this summer with his game time set to be significantly reduced.

There is also another Wrexham star who was moved on, despite Parkinson feeling sorry for him. As his quest for a new club continues, he may have improved his chances after netting two goals in a recent PFA friendly game.

Former Wrexham star Jordan Davies scores two in PFA friendly

After being released from Wrexham this summer, Jordan Davies has been on a quest to find his next club for the 2025/26 season.

Davies’ spell at Wrexham saw the midfielder play a prominent role in both National League campaigns under Phil Parkinson, as well as the League Two promotion-winning season. He notably bagged 15 goals in Parkinson’s first season, which was a fantastic return for the youngster.

Unfortunately, he was made surplus to requirements by Parkinson last season and was since moved on to Grimsby Town on loan, where he suffered with injuries.

Thankfully, the former Red Dragons favourite is back on track regarding his fitness, and has made a compelling case for a club to take a chance on him after he scored two goals in a PFA friendly against Everton U21s.

Davies’ second goal saw him link up with fellow former Wrexham ace Anthony Forde, who provided the assist for the midfielder.

What Phil Parkinson said about Jordan Davies following Wrexham departure

Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson showed plenty of sympathy for Jordan Davies amid talks around a potential departure from the Racecourse Ground.

“I feel for Jordan a little bit,” said the Red Dragons boss. “I still think Jordan has got plenty to offer. He had a difficult season at Grimsby with his injuries but one thing you can’t take away from Jordan is he can be a match-winner.

“I sat down and had a really good chat with him last week, and just talked to him about what I felt he needed to do going forward because I want to see Jordan do well next year. He is someone who has certainly got the capabilities to do that.

“But he is at that point in his career where he knows he needs to have a good season next year.”

Wrexham fans are fully aware of Davies’ qualities in the lower leagues, and they will be hoping that he can notch an injury-free and successful season at whichever club takes a chance on him.
