Some big decisions will need to be made at Wrexham during the 2025 winter transfer window.

Wrexham are still in with a chance of securing promotion from League One to the Championship this season.

But if they are to see off the likes of Birmingham City and Wycombe Wanderers, it’s important they have a productive January.

Their rivals are already making plans to improve, with Birmingham eyeing a former Premier League player to strengthen their squad.

As for the Red Dragons, it is expected to be a busy month on both the incomings and outgoings front.

Patrick Bamford is of interest to Wrexham as the club look to strengthen their forward line amid their current option’s lack of goals.

But while fans are no doubt most excited by potential new arrivals, the future of several players remains up in the air.

What Phil Parkinson and Wrexham chief Shaun Harvey discussed ahead of January

Wrexham are set to face off with Bristol Rovers in a League One meeting this Saturday.

Ahead of the tie, Phil Parkinson has been speaking to the media and discussed some of the club’s plans for January.

When doing so, as per Leader Live, the 57-year-old shared details of a chat he recently had with Wrexham chiefs Shaun Harvey, Humphrey Ker and Michael Williamson.

The club’s loan players were discussed, with decisions expected to be made on the five stars Wrexham have sent to other teams – all of which can be recalled in January.

He said: “There’s an option to call all the loan players back in January. As you can imagine there’s a lot going on at the moment with decisions on those players.

“I had a chat on Monday night with Shaun Harvey, Michael Williamson, Les Reed and Humphrey Ker about where we’re going with the loan players.

“I reiterated how we’d like the squad to look come the end of January and as always, I am excited about that.  We have got to make some decisions.”

Which Wrexham players are out on loan

Luke McNicholas is currently plying his trade with Rochdale but injuries to Callum Burton and Arthur Okonkwo could well see the Red Dragons recall the goalkeeper in January.

Sam Dalby is excelling after leaving Wrexham for Dundee United, scoring eight times in the Scottish Premier League already this term.

With the likes of Paul Mullin and Modou Faal not producing enough goals in 2024/25, bringing Dalby back in January does make sense.

Elsewhere, Jake Bickerstaff is on loan at Altrincham and Billy Waters at Halifax – both those deals expire in January.

Jordan Davies is also enjoying a solid spell with Grimsby Town, scoring three goals in eight League Two appearances.
