Former Manchester United man and Sky Sports pundit once noted what was ‘special’ about Wrexham’s recent progress.
Wrexham have endured incredible success in recent years, having notched back-to-back-to-back promotions, rising from the National League to the Championship.
It has been done in fairly convincing fashion for Phil Parkinson’s side, who will be in the Championship next season alongside Birmingham City and the winner of the League One play-offs.
The press that Wrexham have received for their achievements is unparalleled, and certainly deserved as they now find themselves just one promotion away from the Premier League.
Even Gary Neville was once discussing Wrexham back in 2023, a club that he believes is closing in on the ‘dream’.

Wrexham are closing in on the ‘dream’ that Gary Neville called back in 2023
Wrexham currently find themselves having to prepare for a season in the Championship, one that sees them just one promotion from the top flight.
Rob McElhenney is certainly confident after his recent statement on social media, a sign that Wrexham are not going to sit and settle for consolidation in the Championship.
The achievements of the recent promotion haven’t gone unnoticed, as Gary Neville, in an interview with The Guardian back in 2023, spoke about Wrexham’s rise through the leagues.
“The dream of the pyramid in English football is that you can rise from the lower tiers and play in the Premier League,” Neville said. “Once we lose that, we lose everything. What clubs like Luton, Wrexham and Stockport have done is what makes football special.”
Not many sides have been able to replicate the success that Wrexham and Parkinson have overseen in the last three years, and with the progress that the club has made both on-and-off the pitch, the ‘dream’ of the Premier League is surely no longer just a dream.

Wrexham spotlight could work against them next season
It is safe to say that Wrexham’s rise through three leagues has been one of the highlights in the EFL in recent times, for many reasons, whether it be the American audience that Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have attracted, or the starpower within the ranks of the squad that Parkinson has formed.
However, this all could potentially make things difficult for Wrexham next season, because, like many Championship teams have been with the previous big-hitters, plenty of clubs will be fired up to face off against Wrexham.
The spotlight that Wrexham have on them can always prove to be a double-edged sword at times, something that Parkinson may have to manage next season.
