Wrexham have already been linked with several players going into what is expected to be a busy summer.

Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have been told Wrexham need six to nine signings made in the summer transfer window.

Meanwhile, recent comments from McElhenney suggest he wants the club to go big and try and push for yet another promotion in 2025/26.

That would require much investment, though Wrexham do have around £40m in finances to play with this summer.

As a result, it’s not surprising to see the transfer links coming thick and fast before the current campaign has even drawn to a close.

Jamie Vardy has been linked to Wrexham in the last week or so after his impending Leicester City exit was confirmed.

Meanwhile, another former Fox has also been tipped to move to the Racecourse Ground.

Wrexham told Jonny Evans would be great signing

Jonny Evans has won the Premier League on three occasions and is currently on the books of Manchester United.

However, he’s set to become a free agent in the summer, and it has been suggested he could join Wrexham in the upcoming window.

On this front, rival fans have taken to social media to suggest the centre-back would be a great option for the recently promoted team.

One fan wrote: “That’s a great move for both parties. The Wrexham-Reynolds train just keeps on going!”

A second added: “Good signing for them,” a third echoed: “Good signing for Wrexham.”

“Let him go help them come to the Premier League,” another supporter stated.

A fifth fan wrote: “Very good signing if it can be done,” with a sixth adding: “Love Jonny Evans. Be a decent signing and hopefully they can involve him in a dual coaching role.”

Jonny Evans wage

Should a move for Evans come to pass, he would become the club’s highest-paid player pretty quickly.

According to Capology, the 37-year-old is currently taking home £65,000-a-week, or £3,380,000 a year.

Wrexham will quadruple their wage bill next season, and it’s easy to see why that plan is in place when looking at the types of players they are being linked with.

Jay Rodriguez earns £15,000-a-week and is the Red Dragons’ highest earn right now, but Wrexham must spend more if they are to compete at the top end of the Championship, as Rob’s latest tweet suggests he wants to do.
