Wrexham have got their summer transfer business underway after completing a deal to sign Ryan Hardie from Plymouth Argyle.
Striker Ryan Hardie becomes the first player to join Wrexham following their promotion to the Championship last season.
It’s reported that Wrexham have paid just £700,000 to sign Hardie from Plymouth, where in two seasons playing in the Championship he proved his scoring ability in the second tier.
He scored 22 goals across both seasons, including 10 in 37 games for the relegated Green Army last season. And the 28-year-old might well be followed up with another new signing in the coming days.
Wrexham have several transfer targets right now and with the summer transfer window officially back open after a six-day closure, we could be poised to see some more new signings arrive at the Racecourse very soon.

Phil Parkinson drops huge Wrexham transfer hint
There are new names being linked with a move to Wrexham almost everyday. Recent reports have revealed how Wrexham are interested in signing Barry Bannan and Stuart Armstrong, who are both out of contract at Sheffield Wednesday this summer. There have also been reports that Wrexham are close to signing Danny Ward.
And speaking to Leader Live, Dragons boss Phil Parkinson has insisted that Wrexham are close to ‘one or two’ new signings, before Hardie was then announced, suggesting that there’s another deal in the pipeline.
Parkinson said: “We are getting closer with one or two things but it is the time of the close season. These weeks in June, a lot of players are on holiday and a lot of managers are away. Obviously early June is still very early in the transfer window but a lot of work is going on as always behind the scenes to try and build a competitive squad.”
Who could be the next player to sign for Wrexham?
With Hardie now through the doors, it tells us a lot about Wrexham’s summer transfer plans. It tells us that Parkinson is ready to spend money on Championship-proven players and that he’s eager to do business early, with most other teams and managers still on their summer holidays.
And going off of previous and more recent reports, it could be that Ward is the next man to arrive. Wrexham are in talks to sign Ward on a free transfer and the Wrexham-born goalkeeper could be a very shrewd addition to the goalkeeping department, which has seen a few player exits already this summer.
Meanwhile, Harry Darling has joined Norwich City on a free transfer, reuniting with his former MK Dons boss Liam Manning after strong links to Wrexham.
Ward then seems like the most likely candidate to arrive at Wrexham after Hardie. But Parkinson could yet have a surprise in store for fans.
