Wrexham’s squad depth could prove to be a huge factor in their push for promotion from League One.
Wrexham currently sit just two points behind Wycombe Wanderers in the final automatic promotion place in League One but face a tough run of fixtures against fellow top sides.
Wrexham and Huddersfield are both struggling for goals ahead of their upcoming clash and the Terriers will provide stern opposition yet again for Phil Parkinson’s men following a 0-0 draw earlier in the season.
Parkinson faces some tough decisions again ahead of the match with Huddersfield manager Michael Duff heaping praise on Jay Rodriguez despite his tough start at the Racecourse Ground. However, there is one former Huddersfield player that definitely won’t be featuring in the game.

Wrexham signed Will Boyle from Huddersfield Town
Wrexham signed defender Will Boyle from Huddersfield Town back in the summer of 2023 ahead of their first season back in the English Football League.
Boyle enjoyed a solid first season at the Red Dragons, making 28 appearances in all competitions and finding the back of the net on four occasions.
However, this season has been a different story for the 29-year-old defender having not been seen in the league at all and making just three appearances in total.
He hasn’t played for Wrexham since October 2024 and picked up a calf injury in November that has seen him not named in a matchday squad since.
Boyle not in Wrexham’s EFL squad for remainder of the season
Should Parkinson want to call upon former Huddersfield defender Boyle before the end of the season, the option is no longer there.
Boyle was axed from Wrexham’s EFL squad for the remainder of the season, alongside fellow defender Luke Bolton.

Off the pitch, Boyle has been elected to the PFA players’ board to act as ‘the voice of the changing room’ alongside Wales international defender Ben Davies and Leicester City defender Conor Coady.
Boyle will hope that his career on the pitch will soon be back on track however, he can do nothing to influence his side’s fortunes against former club Huddersfield Town.
