Max Cleworth has become one of the fastest rising stars at Wrexham, and his transfer value has been discussed recently.
The centre-back is one of the few players remaining who were already at Wrexham when Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds took over in 2021.
Max Cleworth joined the club all the way back in 2014 from Connah’s Quay Nomads’ youth side.
During Rob and Ryan’s first full season as owners, he made 28 National League appearances and has now become a key figure under Phil Parkinson.
Cleworth credits Parkinson for his career development, having just enjoyed his most prolific season in a Wrexham shirt with seven league goals.
Now, Shaun Harvey has been quizzed on the defender’s transfer value during a recent live event he took part in.

Shaun Harvey quizzed on Max Cleworth price-tag
Still only 22, the stopper clearly has a very bright future ahead of him.
Cleworth won two Wrexham awards at the end of 2024/25, and fans now want to know how much he is worth.
Speaking to the Fearless In Devotion podcast, Harvey was asked, “If you had to put a price on Max Cleworth’s head, what would it be?”
The Wrexham chief then responded by refusing to put an exact price tag on the player. He said: “I spent five minutes, and I’m not going to answer your question because I’m not going to set a figure in the marketplace. I’m not going to have it reported, Harvey says Cleworth can go for £50m.”
The host who asked the original question then responded: “But it’s double figures, though, isn’t it?”
To which Harvey replied: “Listen, I don’t see how it’s not because that’s his value to us, and that’s the metric. If we didn’t get promoted, and the other factor, of course, is how can you stand in a player’s way of being able to go forward?
“And while we’re being successful, nobody’s ever going to ask that question, are they? And that’s one of the reasons that we’ve probably never sold a player. A. We’ve brought players in for a specific purpose, but B. we’ve never been standing in anybody’s way.”
Wrexham players who could leave
Cleworth was backed to receive transfer interest early in the 2024/25 season, though it is hard to see Wrexham wanting to, or needing to, sell the defender anytime soon.
There could still be more departures in the coming months, however, after Max Howard’s Wrexham exit was confirmed on May 15.
There are a few more players whose deals are due to run out on June 30 of this year.
Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer have been backed to leave as well, despite Parkinson saying the Wrexham strikers will be back for pre-season after not featuring in League One since January 28.
